Yesterday evening I discovered that our hotel in Puno (Wary Naywa) had a pool and steam room. Being so tired, I put an alarm on my watch to prevent my self from falling asleep in the steam room, last thing I wanted was to turn into a lobster. The next morning we woke up bright and early to catch a collectivo down to the docks were we began our two day trip to the Islands of Amantani and Taquile. On the way we stopped off to visit the Uros floating Islands people. These folks some how figured it was better to build floating Islands from water reads than to live on real ground. Woke up not feeling too well, but lungs not burning like the night before, probably the altitude, managed to have some breakfast. Another trip with a local operator. First stop was a area with a whole bunch of stone sculptures, and what they meant, and how they were changed and developed by the different people of the area in ancient times. Next stop was a local Sunday market. Thousands of people selling buying and selling heaps of different types of potatoes, vegatables, fish, chickens, pottery, and heaps of other stuff, ... If you wanted to you could pay one of the stall holders 5 soles for them to allow you to take their photo. (I don't like having my photo taken so know how they feel.) Firstly, thanks to everyone that has sent messages and left comments. Please be aware that I usually only have a small amount of time to spend on the net checking my messages, so if I don't respond right now, I will when we get stuck in another hole like Nazca and have some spare time. Saturday night, 7pm, we got into Puno, the main Peruvian port on the shore of Lake Titicaca. As soon as we got off the bus we could feel that we were at nearly 13000ft. It was a combination of the dry mouth, the foggy headache, and the amount of effort required to do anything that gave it away.
