This is a very simple tribute to the people I met during my trip. A lot of them went out of their way to help me out or make me feel at home and a lot of them I like to think of as friends now. Even though they may only be named briefly in this post, I took a lot of time to write this and thought about every single one of the people I mentioned here by name and how interacting with them in different times, places and circumstances influenced my trip. The more you travel, the more you realize the vast amount of good-natured people out there. And 22 months of traveling finally came to an end. Out of the things I had planned, I managed to do a lot of them, I ... read more

Our time in Peru had come to an end and it was now time to start making our way to Chile. The bus journey from Lima took us to Peru's border town Tacna. After going so north in Peru we had a long way to get to Valparaiso so after crossing the border from Tacna into Chile we arrived in a place called Arica. Arica was half a beach town and half a city but due to the cooler weather we spent our short time there in the city rather than on the beach. There aren't too many hostels in Arica but the one we stayed in was called Arica Unite which was perfect for our one night stay there. The next day we did another short bus journey to Iquique to break up our long ... read more

I have been wanting to write a small ”in general” update here from Valparaíso since all the experiences happen non stop and I will not be making updates per day like on my usual travels. I’m so in love with this city! Every time I leave the house I see something new and exciting, graffiti, new cool houses, and interesting people etc., there is never a boring day in this city. We’ve been lucky enough to find a house in Cerro Carcel just next to Plaza Bismarc, which according to Lonely Planet is a must see spot because of the amazing view. We can see all of the coast and the sea and during nighttime we can see all of the beautiful lights that glow up. It is one of the most colorful neighbourhoods and placed ... read more

Buenos dias, We unfortunately did not get a chance to visit Valparaiso as much as we would have liked but our tour of the city made us appreciate how much of a bohemian and artistical culture there is to see an experience there in Val Po, what used to be the home of the famous Pablo Neruda. I will let the photos speak for themselves. Hasta Lluego x... read more

Première découverte très ... read more

……….back to reality The flight arrived back into Santiago at 12.30am (there is a 2 hour time difference) so we got a taxi into the city and got into the apartment we had booked about 1 in the morning. It was booked with a different company and this time it was all ok and the place was lovely. 4/4/13 Pavement pounding in Santiago Walked a million miles, through a park, onto Pablo Neruda’s house in a little side street, then onto the Funicular, which was shut until 1 so carried on walking and did a circuit of the university area. Lots of students all grabbing burgers from small stalls so we ended up with one for lunch too. Went back and up the Funicular to the hill top where you were supposed to have great views ... read more

12:20 p.m. I am sitting at the port as the others go on a tour of the harbourto see the city. Although the sea is very calm, for me just seeing boats bob is enough to make me queasy. All around me, people are whiling away time for whatever reasons. Everyone watched a two-year-old boy try to catch pigeons, which is one of the funniest sights anywhere. The sun is shining. A cool breeze puffs every few seconds. Behind the plaza is a street that Pablo warned me is very dangerous. This tourist area is a long plaza edged by a short line of craft shops with the worst souvenirs ever. On both sides of the plaza are cargo ships and on the horizon is a breakwater near what might be a military ship. The navy ... read more

This weekend, I will be heading out on a camping trip with some friends! We will leave Thursday night and take an overnight bus 7 hours north to a city called La Serena. We will spend some time there and then we will also go to Valle del Elqui, where will camp for a couple nights. I am sure I will talk more about it in my next entry, but it should be an awesome time and a great way to see some of the beautiful land to the north of where I live! In this post, I have decided that I want to talk briefly about some the random/ interesting/funny events that have happened to me so far that I may not have touched on in other posts. I am realizing that there are some ... read more
