A beach in Miraflores, the city we stayed in.
Hello all! I finally have time to write about Perù. Lima was great; we stayed in Miraflores, which is like a sub-city of Lima. It was very touristy which also made it the nice part of Lima. But after three nights in Lima we went down to a little beach town called Punta Hermosa. And let me just say the trip down there may have been one of the most weirdest journeys of my life! It started off all right, there were too many of us so we had to get two taxies to the bus station. I was in the second group and we arrive at the bus station and take off okay and were on the right bus. But while we were on our way down there my friend keeps asking the driver to make sure that we will get dropped off in Punta Hermosa and the driver keeps insuring us that we will be fine. So finally the driver tells us that this is our stop and we get off, but not even 5 minutes later we find out that we’re not in Punta Hermosa but in the next town over! At this point we were all

tired because we had such a hard time getting everyone together and all, so this defiantly didn’t make things better. During our time of releasing anger, two cabineros (cops) pull up and ask us if we need help. So one of my friends goes and explains to them what happened and asks if there is a bus or taxi that we can take. After a little difficulty with the language barrier, they say there isn’t a bus or taxi but they can take us if we pay for gas. And when I heard that every bad thought was going through my mind. So we decide to get a ride from them, and we fit the two cabineros, the five of us, our luggage, and a surfboard in the Pathfinder they were driving. It was one of the most uncomfortable rides ever! They thought they knew where they were taking us but pretty much asked every person they saw on the street. So we eventually got dropped off but when we asked where it was the guy said it was on the other side of town. So this lady offers to take us there but once we climb the road she

decides that it is to far and she will go there and have them come pick us up. So we wait and then we finally see the van and they take us back to the hostel. When we get back to the hostel our friends were there waiting for us. We never met them at the bus station; apparently their taxi driver just took them all the way down. But that night our hostel had a killer BBQ, and from what the owners told us, I/we ate cow heart. It actually wasn’t that bad. But the next day we went to the beach and two of the guys I was with knew how to surf and they taught the other guys. At night we just hung out outside and talked with some of the locals.
The next day we decided to go to another beach that had the lounge chairs and waiter service. We are there for about half an hour and we are ordering some beers and the waiter tells us that we have to pay for the chairs or we can buy food and they would be free. So we finally decided to just buy food, which we

had to order three times because he kept on forgetting about us. Then finally we get the bill and it was 207 soles (about $65US)! He said that we ordered 10 beers when it was only 6 and put the full price of the chairs. So we go up and tell him the problem and then he adds it wrong but we got it down to 170 soles, which was much better!!
The next day we went even farther south to a different beach where we learned how to surf. Like I said before I got up on my 5th or 6th try! Oh, before that some friends and I walked around Punta Hermosa and climbed this rock/hill. It had a great view of the city! I probably had the most fun that day, which was good because it was my last day! But I think that about covers my Perù! Talk to you later!!
