Lindsay here. Keira and I are leaving today to go back to the US, and it's still weird for me to think that I am actually going back. It's kind of like the same feeling I had when before I came here, I can't believe that I will be back living in another country. I am leaving my home to go back home, it just sounds funny. But I am really excited to see everyone and just be there. I have had the most wonderful experiences here, and I'm really going to miss it. I already had to say goodbye to my Chilean mom and sister and they were just incredibly sweet, and I am/was so lucky to have them for my family while being here, they definatly made everything a lot easier and smoother. Well we're back in Chile. As you can see about 6 of our blog entries were lost by travelblog. We're really bummed about it because we like to go back and read through our travel journal. But that seems to be the theme of the trip, things getting lost/stolen or breaking/malfunctioning. With two more nights in South America we're reading to do all our last minute shopping and look forward to a fun last night on Monday. Lindsay is getting a little sad about leaving her Chilean family but looks forward to seeing her "old" family. Uruaguay is a very cold country in the winter but also extremely beatuiful. We stayed one night in Colonia del Sacramento, a small coastal town, and two nights in Montevideo. I was sick the last 2 nights in Buenos Aires ... read more

After Machu Picchu nothing really seemed as "cool" in Cusco. We just went to a museum in town and did a little shopping for Lou. She now has enough clothes to last the trip. There{s just so many things we wish we had from her bag. But that{s behind us now. After Cusco we headed off to Lima, Peru. Lima is a BIG city and nothing like anything else I had seen in Peru. We stayed at a Hostel in Miraflores. It{s pretty close to the beach and filled with lots of surfers. It was our first Hostel with a kitchen and we had a really cute little patio area to hang on. On the roof we just hung out, drank some beers, and played ping pong! We walked to the beahc nad they had a ... read more

South America » Bolivia » La Paz Department » La Paz July 20th 2007

Well, after a very long and tireing 24 hours (it actually hasn´t even been 24 hours) we are finally in La Paz, Bolivia, me with the only clothes that I have on my back. But let me just give you what our past 24 hours has been like. We started yesterday off by going to a park in Santiago, thinking that there was a tour at 11am, but Frommer´s was wrong, the tour is actually at 10am, so that was kind of a bummer. But we ended up walking around the park still which is really pretty. So after that we go looking for a movie theater to see the new Harry Potter movie, because we had awhile to waste, and I wanted to see it also. So after the movie we hit the post office ... read more

We´re leaving Santriago tomorrow morning. I´ve really enjoyed this city. It´s like a "little london". Since here we went wine tasting at Concho y Tono on the outskirts of SAntiago. Lou and I had a nice lunch near the winery before. It was an all day event. It took a little over an hour to get there and back. IT was a really cute little town and winery. Yesterday we walked around Santiago all day. We were going to go up to the snow but they said there wasn´t much to do if you´re not skiing. So instead we went to this park. We road cable cars to the top and ate lunch and walked around. Yiou basically have a few of all the Andes that surround Santaigo. Tehy make it a very beautiful city. Then ... read more

Hello all. Today we're leaving Lindsay's host family house and heading out for our travels. It's been very lovely meeting Lindsay's Chilean Family. They are very nice. It was a little tight for the 2 of us staying in her room though. I'm so glad Lindsay got to stay in such an artistic town. Everything here is gorgeous. We went to an outdoor museum yesterday with her mom and sister. Just amazing! Makes me want to scrap and do some crafts. So we're off to Santiago. Being here has brought back so many fond memories of our European Adventure last summer. I love to travel with my sis! Adios! -Keira Lindsay here, well I'm about to leave my family that I have been living with for the past five months. I don't think it has hit ... read more

Well I must say that today has been the most tranquilo 4th of July that I have ever had. I walked around the city for a bit and then retreated back to my program's office to do some more research for my mine and my sister's trip. She is coming down in 9 days, I'm am SO excited to see her!! We are going to La Paz, Bolivia; Cusco and Lima, Peru, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am also thinking about going to Uraguay, it is pretty close to Buenos Aires. I can't wait to get going! But today I went to a local pub and watched Chile tie to Mexico in the Copa America. I don't know if they will continue in the cup seeing as Brazil won to Ecuador. And sadly the only fireworks ... read more
