Jelikoz let s low-cost Sky Airlines stal o malo vic nez cesta busem, tak ted sedime v letadle a uzivame si 2500 km dlouhy vyhlidkovy let. Jsou nadherne videt vsechny vulkany oblasti vcetna Osorna, ktery je uzasnym soumernym zasnezenym kuzelem, ze nas nuti premyslet o zmene planu :).Taky prelet nad aktivni sopkou, ktera kouri neni spatny. Jinak to jsou prvni low-costy, ktere serviruji jidlo a piti. Jiny kraj, jiny mrav :). Nez definitivne pristaneme v Punta Arenas mame dalsi dve mezipristani. Letadlo tu funguje trochu jako bus. Vzdalenosti jsou obrovske, cesty prasne a nektere oblasti daleho od silnicniho hlavniho tahu, takze busem se cestuje treba dva dny ... read more

Day 9 Today we met at the tour company at 6:50 A.M. to begin our penguin excursion trip. I made sure to take motion sickness pills prior to leaving the hotel. We will be travelling on a bus as well as a boat. The bus took us 30 minutes to a small boat ramp. There were approximately 30 people packed like sardines onto a small boat with a friendly crew. The conditions on the water were very choppy and I am thankful for remembering to take the motion sickness pills. On the way to the island the boat begins to lull me to sleep. I leaned back on Warren and rested my head on his arm. He makes a comfortable pillow and I doze off. I awake to Warren laughing as well as the couple across ... read more

Day 8 There is not much to blog about on this day. Upon waking I discovered that I do not fell so well. We lay in bed until noon before showering and heading across the street to the center square. There are two cruise ships into town and they are also frequenting the center square to shop among the local merchants. The local merchants are selling jewelry, keychains, and hand made wool items from little carts resembling mini stagecoaches. There is a local man painting a picture from an early1900's photo under a tree in the square. We stopped by and admired his work as he mixed colors to stroke on the canvas. We attempted to visit the southernmost beer brewery in the world but were disappointed when we arrived and found it closed. We rode ... read more

We have successfully covered 10,817Km according to Zane's speedo, of our estimated 10,897 km of South America Patagonia, 80 Km out from our estimate, sorry about that. The Chase truck however managed to clock up 12,649 Km in total, so its not just a Sunday ride around the park. Bones and I are now in Punta Arenas, at Gerardo and Marisol's home, RESTING, after our 2.00am flight from Santiago. We had a delay to lock the motos away in the container, and as we had to go back to Enzo and Martinas, we ran out of day. We had the mini van pick up Mike and all the luggage and meet us at Placilla, where we said our goodbyes. The main route back to Santiago and the Airport closed at 6.00 pm, as there was a ... read more

Buongiorno, From a very hot Santiago de Chile.....over 30 at 10.30am......makes a change from freezing Punta Arenas!! Ok lets go back a couple of days, as i have not had the chance to get internet connection...... As I said Torres de Paine was spectacular, but a lot less so was Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas. In fact I was dissapointed with Punta arenas as originally I had planned to make it a base to explore the end of the world....I am so glad that I made Ushuaia the longer base as it had so much more to offer......and it is the real stepping stone to Antarctica.....look at the images and make your own mind up......if you plan to ever come this far south, make it Ushuaia always. Yesterday I decided that because these were some of ... read more

Well here we are in Punta Arenas, much has happened since our last blog. We have ridden our Moto’s to the end of the world to Fin del Mundo and some of us continued as far South East as you can go, to Ea. Moat, what a great ride that was. Mike V has had his operation to repair and pin his broken leg and will be driven down to met up with us by his surgeon. We are looking forward to him rejoining us. We all went to Gerardo’s Estancia and enjoyed a great lunch, prepared by his wife, Marisol and son Kevin, a job well done and appreciated by us all. We have had a change of tyres yesterday, everyone was running Conti TKC 80’s and because of different riding styles and moto’s, some ... read more

As the region of Southern Patagonia is so vast and spectacular and divided by the Andes with Chile to the left and Argentina to the right, we felt it best to combine the blog for the area to reflect it’s true character rather than stick with the country by country format we have adhered to before now. Hopefully this will help some travellers who may chance upon this diary as accurate information about travelling in this part of the world is really difficult to come by - which is surprising given the huge number of people that travel here each year. The best information is from other travellers who have been there, done it and got the T shirt - so why this information isn’t universally available seems a mystery. On the road from El ... read more

Story NUMERO UnO : Bought bus ticket out of Pucon to Puerto varas. & hours of riding a bus awaited me. I was ready. Lots of cookies for my 3 times a day snack...one liter of water (hmm, cuplrit), one avacodo and braed for lunch, and loads of zzzzzz´s! One of the many small town stops I decided I was going to use the bathroom at the bus station. Come on they are less stink than bus latrines. I got off the Bus in Osorno and as i passed the bus driver I quickly asked how long the bus was going to stop for. 5 min he yelled. I thought it would give me ample time. I ran as fast as I could, the damn bathroom was way at the end of the terminal. I ... read more
