"The captain would like to inform all passengers that the Iguazu falls can be seen from the right hand side of the aircraft. Passengers seated at the left side of the aircraft may proceed to view the falls but please return to your seat right after you have seen the falls." That is the thing about the Argentineans, always so passionate about the things they do. The captain was obviously very passionate about navigating and making his passengers happy. The falls could be spotted before the plane approached the Iguazu Airport. But I could not be sure that this was the falls until the lead stewardess of Aerolíneas Argentinas made the announcement. At sunset and from an aerial view, the Iguazu falls seemed like layers and layers of bright gold curtains, with the water at ... read more

Iguacu Falls involves around 1.5 million litres of water dropping over an assortment of cliffs that spread for 2kms. In other words its a very wet place. On arrival yesterday Anna and I walked to view the Brazillian side of the falls, right opposite our hotel. The force and noise of the water is something else. Today we took a car to Argentina with a young driver reminiscent of Ayrton Senna. In our view the falls are best from the Argentine side. Looks more viewpoints and closer to the water generally. All the falls are accompanied by butterflies of every variety you could imagine and some wonderful rainbows at times. I needed a shower badly so took a boat under the falls and received a very good dousing. On return to the visitor centre I was ... read more

We embraced the traveller spirit and made a spur of the moment decision to go to Iguazu falls with Lucy and Darren for a few nights as they started their travels. Headed to some Jesuit ruins on the way in a diserted town called San Ignacio. Iguazu falls is ridiculously amazing. Saw it from the Brazil side (had to get the stamp in the passport on our mission to collect the most stamps ever) and then the Argentina side where you can go right under the falls in a spead boat. Amazing. ... read more

Hello all, From Salvador we flew south over Rio, and saw this spectacular city once more from the air. We have been in Iguazu falls for all of 48 hours, but enough time to see the falls from both sides (Brazil and Argentina). The day we arrived we saw the waterfalls from Brazil, then yesterday we crossed the boarder into Argentina to spend the day there. This included a boat ride under the falls, which was great fun, quite scary, and involved getting soaking wet! The hostel here is kind of like a mini resort with a pool, but also a bit like school camp; you line up to get you dinner with a tray etc. We did manage to score a great big room for ourselves which was great. We have meet loads of other ... read more

Iguazu Falls are on the border of Argentina and Brazil, so we started on the Argentinian side having heard they were by far the better set out with the better views. They are a tiny part of a much bigger jungle reserve but probably the most famous attraction here. There are 275 falls over a 2.5km frontage with the most spectacular being the Devils Throat. We caught the train there first thing in the morning and were able to walk along the walkways pretty much right up to it. We got a right soaking from the spray, but got to see the swifts flying around the falls which was cool as there must´ve been hundreds of them. The only thing we can say about them is they're absolutely beautiful. The set out of the Argentinian side ... read more

Home to IguazuAv & Suzz After a pretty late night in Paraty, it´s a fairly early start to catch the local bus to Sâo Paulo, which takes about 6 hours. Here we have about 2 hours reprieve before the night bus to the town of Iguazu, which takes a whopping 12 hours! The bus isn´t too bad as it has reclining seats and there is a footrest that you pull out from the seat in front to rest your feet and legs on. However it´s still a bit cramped so we don´t get a great deal of sleep. We also stop every 3-4 hours at bizarre little service places along the way so people can use proper toilets and get a bite to eat and then at about 1am the air conditioning system breaks when we´re ... read more

Beautiful!! Much needed tranquility after the Sao Paulo action and we have found it in Foz!! The hostel is amazing - like a little resort miles away from the town...only draw back is that its too far to get emergency supplies like chocolate!! There is a grocery store half a mile away but its like something out of Ópen All hours´!! We spent the first day chilling by the pool - mmmm!! We made it to Foz DÍguaza yesterday which is the Brazilian side - was cool but was only a two hour walk to see the panoramic of the falls, really pretty but not as amazing as the Argentinian side that we did today...knackered after about five hours hiking and ten buses but well worth it!! the hikes werent as intense as we thought but ... read more

Hmm....well I hit my first drab spot in South America - Sao Paulo - didnt want to go there in the first place and didnt like it when i got there!! As the old saying goes..the best thing about it was the road out of it!! It was just a big concrete jungle with most houses barred up in case of theft! The funniest thing here was some fat guy on the tube trying to warn us of old horny brazilian men...to keep away from them....think he was the one with the problem hee!! Anyway...enough of that place....here is one pic for yáll... read more

So ... after my bog explosion on the way here we finally reach our destination. Iguazu Falls, one of the most spectacular falls in the world. We took a boat ride right up to the falls, while waiting in the boat I got stung by a wasp and the whole top of my leg blew up like a balloon. Very fetching. Anyway, the boat ride as you can see from one of the pictures goes fairly close to the main part of the Brazilian side of the Falls. The driver/captain took us under one of the smaller waterfalls and I can say that I was just a little concerned we were all going to drown. But no, we survived but got extremely wet. Then we walked along the platform to get closer to the falls. The ... read more
