Hello all, and apologies for taking so long to post this. I´ll recap a bit, with La Paz, a city beyond the description of words, so i´ll let the pics do the talking. After a day delay, I took a tiny plane to Rurrenebaque, in the Bolivian jungle for a 3 day tour of the pampas. Highlights included crocodile spotting by canoe at night, pirahna fishing, and swimming with pink river dolpins (along with the pirahna and the crocs!). Got to see capybaras in the wild, which was so cool, after seeing them in cages at Amazoonico. Got ravaged by mosquitos and bed bugs! Onward to Villa Tunari, a completely unispiring spot, home to Inti Wari Yassi, the animal sanctuary i was to be at for a month. Where to begin?? The first hostal i stayed ... read more

Hey folks, just a quick update to my awesome fan base! I am at Inta Wari Yassi, an animal sanctuary in the Bolivian jungle. I got my wish and am working with monkeys- cappuchins, to be exact. As usual, the animals are great, it´s the humans that i am having trouble relating to. maybe i should´ve been born another species? We all stay at different hostals, and my first hostal was much more like a refugee camp for prisoner´s of war than a hotel, so i upgraded to another. We aren´t allowed to bring a camera for the first week, so i will post a proper blog next week. If you want to check out the organization, this is their website. http://www.intiwarayassi.org/home_eng.shtml Love to all, and usual , thanks for the comments. Our experiences of the park are quite different as we worked with separate animals, so heres mine first. See ya Pete Our idea of the park was that it was still being set up and that we would be based in the jungle building cages and helping out with animals where possible. On arrival the park was up and running though a little short on volunteers. Due to a lack of male volunteers at the park I was teamed up with Liu a Tiwanese man to work with Yaguaru a 120 kilo 4yr old male jaguar who didnt like women. After my first day I discovered that he didnt like Liu much either. As Liu was trying to change yaguarus line on his overhead cable so he could swim in the river, Yaguaru decided he wanted ... read more

After spending a couple of days in Cochabamba wandering around its never ending market (2km square of stalls) that sold everything from puppies to microwaves everything that is apart from what we were looking for. We headed off down hill towards the Foundation Angeles of Hope, in Villa Tunari, where we spent a month doing some voluntary work. Villa Tunari lies just beyond the last wrinkle of the Andes and inbetween two major rivers that run toward the amazon basin. As we found on our first night of arrival this location makes some monstrous thunder and rain storms as the hot and humid jungle air clashes with the cold air coming down the mountains. Foundation Angeles De Esperanza ( Angels of hope) consists of a school, medical centre and Dentists surgery and is involved in ... read more

We have finally come to the end of our time here at the animal refuge after two months, and the time has moved so quickly it's mindblowing. Laura spent 3 weeks with Quirqui the puma, then changed to the Spider Monkey Park to work with Tim's 28 new black, long legged friends. The spiders have seen a lot of changes to their home over the last few weeks, the largest one being the introduction of a new female monkey named Bibi. She has been at the refuge for about 7 months, and all of that time was spent in quarantine on a small cord with little interaction with other monkeys. Tim spent day after day visiting her, trying to convince 'der management' that she should come up to the Spider Park to be integrated into the ... read more

Since our last exciting account of our time spent in the freezing altiplano, we have visited Potosi (the highest city in the world at 4200m) and Sucre to see their beautiful colonial architecture (a square with a cathedral on it), then finally we arrived in Villa Tunari. Now, as many of you may know, whilst on this trip we really wanted to do some volunteering and the opportunity arose at the Inti Wara Yassi animal refuge, a 4 hour bus journey from Cochabamba. The refuge depends entirely on funds from volunteers and their labour. When you arrive, you're given a tour of the park which is set in lush rainforest and are then assigned to an animal which will be your responsibility for the time that you're there. This means that every day Tim goes to ... read more

James 1:27 "Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for the orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrup us" The last three weeks I have been in Cochabamba working with Mike and Bonnie Timmer and their family as they minister to orphaned and abandoned children in Bolivia. It has been an amazing experience getting the chance to see how God is using their family and blessing their work in this much needed ministry. Three years ago the Timmers began construction on their first orphanage. Partnering with a local church, the vision of the Timmers organization, IOU, is to provide a Christian family environment for the children who are in need of a home. As a result their orphanages are small homes ... read more

At last I am warm again, the only slight disadvantage is that I can't enjoy it fully because I'm actually working, as a volunteer in a wild animal refuge in the Bolivian jungle... ...I'm behind on my blogs, so the plan is to bring you all upto date about where I am now, and then go back and fill in the gaps when I have more time later. Means that there will be a confusing time distortion, but I trust that you will all be able to cope without too many problems. After a week in the Altiplano, in freezing temperatures and high altitude, we have eventually found warmth again. Zoe and I arrived in Cochabamba, Bolivia after a nightmare journey from Uyuni. The bus must have been built in the early 70s, and had NO ... read more

"Fifty years ago in Sucre, Bolivia there lived a very beautiful young lady called Lydia. She had wonderfully large eyes with curly, dangerous eyelashes rather like octopus tentacles. Her legs were also very lovely, almost two metres long whilst her lips were as soft, sensual and moist as raw sausages. In addition to her great beauty she was also very intelligent, she spoke five languages and was the best chess player in all of Bolivia. Every man in Sucre wanted to marry her. However she was also very proud. When she first looked at a man his heart would melt but when she spoke it would freeze. To each of her many admirers she said, "If you can conquer me over the chess board then you can conquer me in the bedroom." Every Sunday for five ... read more

This entry will be quick cos we just lost everything that we had just written... dammit. Basically we are now in Brazil, which is lovely and very green and yellow at the moment. To get here we passed through Potosi, Sucre, Cochabamaba and La Paz...we will leave the jungle experience until later, seeing as how we are still in the jungle really, being in Porto Velho. Potosi. Arrived here at 1am and started by inslting a cabbie by asking him if he had ID. WE had heard bad things re Potosi and wanted to make sure we werent mugged. Next day we watched the footie, hard to do given that everyone was watching this festival called "El gran Poder" (the great power) on telly, and no-one was arsed about the footie. Found it in a caff ... read more
