Yes we are back
The obelisk in 9 de Julio Well as always an update on Mum, all is not well and again things have taken a turn for the worse. Sharon continues to look after Mum in very trying circumtances, the emotional highs and lows are difficult for all of us but it seems that Mum is peaceful amd sleeping most of the time.
Anyway, as you can see we are now in Buenos Aires. Clare and I had problems with our apartment - or lack of - the one we had booked was "broken" or somthing like that so we had to be transferred to another one. The one we are in is lovely and only 4 blocks from the Rowes, two bathrooms, nice lounge and kitchen, so I guess in the end it worked out. We went for breakfast which Clare had included in the booking, although the coffee was nice an americana breakfast simply means tiny bits of toast so by lunch time we were a bit hungry, never mind unlike Clare I still have a bit of reserves so it wont hurt me.
On the first day we arranged to meet the Rowes and were going to go Prune Hand bag shopping. Now here
Clear Skies
Nice clear skies but sine we started we have dropped temperature ranges, up north 30+ and now we are in 18-20 Brrrrrrr it is cold, even had to wear a sweat shirt for part of the day! is a lessen for you - when you arrange to meet people make sure you all have the same location for the meet. Long and short of it was we all waited for 45 minutes but sadly at different places! So Clare and I went to the shops and the Rowes had a walk. We managed to find the Prune shop but the results were not good, nothing really of great interest for Clare but we may revisit today.
Yesterday we went to the markets and onto La Boca. The young Rowes did quite a bit of shopping but sadly also gained quite a bit of fake money. Seems to have been a game of pass it onto the tourists, it also appears that the taxi driver, while explaining how to tell fake money, swapped real money for fake money as Steph is now the proud owner of two 100 peso notes which are not worth the paper that they are printed on.
We went to La Boca for lunch and more shopping, it is still a lovely place and has the same atmosphere. We found a place for lunch, close to where we were last time and
Evita with anose
Just by luck the street light makes an interesting addition to her face chose the parilla or grill. Now I believe we got a real one as it included lots of different cuts of meat but also some unidentified bits, curly chewy bits that seem like tubes, other cut open tube type bits of meat, curly tails and also black pudding. Of course this was accompanied by chips. The real meat was nice, and I liked the kidney but the other bits ...... Harry and Liesel enjoyed the black pudding, I tried it but after working in labs it never quite got on my must have list - it was not fried but just sort of boiled and had a very soft consistency - not for me!
Well we are almost ready for another day, Clare and I are going to wander while the Rowes take in the sites, sadly it is Pete's last day as well so the tour seems to be getting close to the end.
Now I will add some photos.
