Tierra Segunda - Life Makes Sense
On April 16th I departed Bariloche and headed for Buenos Aires. I was sad to leave the Patagonia after 3 months of pure awesomeness! But I was excited to experience Buenos Aires! My first few days were actually quite difficult, adjusting to life in a rat race once again. My days of fresh mountain air, glaciers, forests and a tranquil way of life were suddenly tossed aside in exchange for millions of people living in a rush, tail pipes spewing out pollution and a fast food nation. I might not paint a pretty picture of Buenos Aires with that. It is a wonderful city and I have enjoyed my time here. That being said, I miss the Patagonia. Ive been told that the Patagonia is life changing, and it is. There was something so very special about it and I will miss it everyday until I return one day. I hope to return one day that is. But, moving forward I must remain positive with what lays a head for me.
I spent nearly one month in Buenos Aires. I had a great time there, however one month is
plenty of time to spend in one place! Buenos Aires is the land of beautiful people. The women are world famous, but the guys are gorgeous too! Its retarded! The night life is insane with parties every single day of the week until 8am or even longer if you can still stand! Every corner has a quaint cafe or a Parrilla serving up world class steak! I took in a horse race, a riot of a football match, La Bomba Del Tiempo, and some truly amazing parks! The architecture is stunning and the copious amount of statues are beautiful and awe-inspiring. There is a shit-tun to do in Buenos Aires, no question there! It is a city full of excitement and electric attitude! So much so that Andrew and I had to escape to Montevideo for a couple days. I'll write more about that and Andrews week down in B.A. in the next blog.
My time in Argentina is drawing to a close. I am currently in Iguazu with Alicia and we are heading from Iguazu to Salta and Jujuy in the North Western region of Argentina. Then I will have seen all four points of Argentina, so to
speak. By the time I finish my trip in Argentina I will have spent nearly 5 months traveling. 5 months traveling and only have seen 3 countries... oh ya, and that time I spent in Antarctica! I have yet to see many amazing places and meet many more amazing people and I feel fortunate. I knew that it wasn't the places I would travel to that would help me to remember how to be truly happy once again. Its the people you meet along the way. Some you meet for only moments, a day or a bit more. Some you get to know for a week or even longer. But there are always those few who you become great friends with. Those who share a new perspective with you and you learn from. The more I travel, the more I remember that there is a tremendous amount of good people on this planet. There is reason to hope for the future and reason to smile each day. Each day I am having a reaffirmation of faith in people, in life. And I can feel in my heart that it is only a matter of time before I will want to
return home. I guess time will tell, but for now, I am smiling more and more. My heart is warming with every new person I learn from and I am embracing life a bit more! I know I will meet many more people, and I am encouraged!
