Traditional Zapotec Dyes

We went to a place where they weaved fabric and showed us how the dyes were made. They use a blue bug by drying and crushing it to make a dark red powder. When mixed with water it is dark red. When lemon juice is added it goes bright red. When lime powder is added is goes bright purple. I was the guinea pig.
