We ate breakfast in the Dining Room. I ordered an 3-egg omelet “My Way” and Sharon had scrambled eggs with bacon. The captain had promised rough seas for the night before; but, this mornings announcement seems to have delayed the storm by a day. There were no Daily Puzzle sheets to be had in the Exploration Lounge this morning; but, I did get another bottle of San Pellegrino. We went back to the room to wait for Bingo. I popped down the hall to the Excursion Desk to see if I could get back on the tour that I’d cancelled for the port of Kiel, Germany, tomorrow; but, that tour was already filled up with a wait list. My toe is feeling much better Today’s Bingo was a $20,000 jackpot bingo. It was my turn to ... read more

Day 15 – Bright Star Sea Day Nobody wants to hear a “Bright Star Room Number” announcement come over the in-Room PA system; but, that is exactly what we heard this morning as we were getting ready for our impromptu sea day. “I thought they had stopped doing that,” Sharon said, as everything seems to be done over walkie-talkies. I know I haven’t heard this for several years now. We were supposed to be visiting Estonia today; but, our delayed departure from Warnemunde made it necessary to skip this port. When we left to go to breakfast about forty minutes later, the response team was still in our hallway and the emergency was several doors down. We had to walk away from the stern and then back down the starboard side. Sharon eschewed the Dining Room ... read more

Our center cabin room is arranged with our feet pointing toward the bow as we lie in bed. The TV makes the perfect portal giving us a forward view when we set it to the bow camera; which we do before turning in (setting the elevator music accompanying this view to “mute” of course). We were still in port when we went to bed. Around midnight we seemed to still be in port, our forward Warnemunde port view had not changed, the lights of other boats docked in port had not moved. Still later, it seemed that we had not moved, and were still in port. We were supposed to be underway by 10:00 pm for sure; because, the casino was scheduled to open at midnight The next morning we awoke, having set our clocks ahead ... read more

31.08.2015. Today's German comedy word: Ausfahrt = this is a versatile word that in this case means 'exit' but you could easily have einfahrt, abfahrt gute fahrt. Whichever ‘fahrt' you use and whatever context you use it in, it is always a source of amusement for non-Germans young and old!! Our first full day aboard was a day at sea so this gave us the chance to familiarise ourselves with the layout of the ship. A child's water park area had been constructed on the pool deck complete with water cannon. An array of pipes spew streams of water out at various angles and the pool itself contains no more than a few inches of water. There is a mini golf area on deck 12 the sits around the ship's funnel. I have already walked the ... read more

NOTE – There was a problem with the Shipboard Server and the Blog could not be posted last night. This morning Janet had made an appointment in the Spa to have a manicure at 8:00, so she had to get up kind of early after having watched the movie last night. She got up and dressed, and headed to the buffet for breakfast, and then on to the Spa to have her fingernails painted. Now they are a dark red and very shiny. The Spa also included a hot stone and ice hand massage. After the Spa, she went on to the Adagio Bar to meet with her Knitters & Natters group, where she worked on some knitting. Apparently she does it differently than the others in her group and they were all marveling at her ... read more

I have an undying love for traveling but I have an undying love for the sea. I think that it started when I took my first boat ride out on the beach with my family. It was like I was on a boat of possibilities and the sea was like a monster that is misunderstood. I remember looking over the side of the boat and seeing how the water was just so powerful and how beautiful it looked. I have always imagined myself being out on the open sea and just adventuring into the queen sea herself. For some people they would think that it would be better to stay on the ground and not venture out into what would be so dangerous. I have always been the type to see something and if I want ... read more

Geo: 56.2556, 11.2939 Today was the last full day of the cruise. Of course, Nikki and I both woke up early. We went to breakfast at Top Siders while the girls slept in. We then went and played cards in the Promenade Lounge until it was time for the Origami class to begin. Then the girls joined us in the lounge to play Cruisin for Trivia. WE WON AGAIN!!!!! We all went to lunch at Topsiders and then the girls went off with their friends. Nikki and I decided to do some packing before we went to see Prince of Persia (I had missed the first and last of the movie last night). Part way through the show I went to an Innovations of the Theme Parks presentation and then back to Prince of Persia for ... read more

Geo: 57.5158, 17.5781 Today was an At Sea Day as we headed back to Dover. We had a character breakfast in Parrot Cay bright and early. After breakfast we stopped by the Russian Bazaar that was happening in the shops to see what merchandise they were offering. I knew Disney was going to mark things up but their price increase was OUTRAGEOUS. But, people were gobbling things up. Then Nikki and I went to an Art of Entertaining presentation where we learned to make Chocolate Mousse. Regan and Kelsie napped. After the cooking demonstration, Nikki and I went to up to Deck 9 to relax before our Couples Massage. This was my first ever massage and I have to say it was very nice. The girls went to a dance class and then to the 4th ... read more

Judy, Roxie and I met with the “future cruise” planner and pre-booked additional cruises which allows us to put less down and receive ship board credit. Went to a 75% off sale - what a mad house. Stood in line longer to pay than it did to find items I wanted. Worked on my log and at then went to the final art auction. Didn’t buy anything this time. Tonight’s formal night so have to dress up a little more. ... read more

Slept till 10 a.m. Could not believe it. Roxie got up went to breakfast, came back and I was still sleeping so she went roaming the ship. I never heard anything until my phone rang at 10. I later found out it was Judy. We attended a session in the spa on “Secrets to a Flatter Stomach.” I doubt I’ll ever see that again, but it was interesting and I learned a few things. Went to the art show today with Judy. Bought 2 very unique “Wyland’s” - they are painted on bamboo and I got them for ½ what they are on land. One is penguins and the other is koala bears. Stephanie, you can’t have these. Also, I won a picture of a whale jumping out of the water. Went to dinner and the ... read more
