Yesterday it poured rain, but today it was gloriously sunny and clear. The Blue Mountains are like the Grand Canyon, but they are indeed blue due to all of the eucalyptus and bluish hue. We decided to hike down to the base of the canyon; it was dry at the top but a fern grotto with waterfalls and creeks at the bottom.

The walk was straight down on wet and slippery stairs and we realized with each step down we would be 'stair mastering' for hours back up....and we were. But the views mere magnificient. As for the guide's assurance that there were no steep drop offs, I beg to differ but Paul talked me through it.

After the hike we refueled with traditional chicken pies. We had great desserts and I always snicker when Paul orders a large long black (large coffee).

Relaxing now with a few local brews in the guest lounge at our hotel. We noticed that the birds around here don't just 'tweet tweet' but really shreik, whistle, caw, and sing loudly and they are very colorful.
