It was a foggy day as we left the mainland of Te Anau and headed into the mist on the water by boat to the glow worm caves. The caves were surrounded by mossy trees and the walls of the cave were wet like they had been the walls of a steamy shower. We climbed into a small row boat and rowed into the darkness in the cave. As we winded through the stone passageway by boat the ceiling of the cave was covered by what looked like twinkling lights. In reality, those twinkles were actually worms hanging from the ceiling. They were beautiful.
