11th November I have a plan, of sorts, to aim for the National and Regional Parks, that way I am guaranteed a scenic walk. After I pack the van up, I head south towards Humus Ranges National Park. I get to the toll road, which reminds me that I still need to pay for the trip north on the toll road. Apparently it is an offence not to pay within days of use, best get on to that at some point. It is about an hour and a half drive, every where takes so long to get to as the sipped limits are lower than the UK. Most roads are 80km which is about 50mph and the motorways are 100km (62mph). After the debrief on the workings of the motorhome we went to a Pak 'n Save store for a load of supplies. The kids tried to help, but you know how kids can be in supermarkets, especially after spending so much time sitting down... we survived it and remained on reasonable speaking terms... A short jaunt south from Auckland to the Firth of Thames, an estuary with a windswept DOC (Department of Conservation) motorhome park up. A strip of grass to park on, no amenities, and then you could just step down onto a white seashell covered beach with an uninterrupted view across the estuary to the Coromandel Peninsula.
