Beautiful start to the day in Takapuna. Blue sky with a calm sea and a few brave winter paddle boarders doing there stuff. Managed to catch up with a friend for a coffee at the Takapuna beach café. Ironically he had a family bach at Long Bay when he was a young lad......this is our next stop (Long Bay Regional Park).
Not disappointed with this place. Today (day 19), started with a bit of light rain, but coated up and headed off to do the Long Bay Coastal walk. It may not knock Tapapakanga off the number one placing but it may be close. Wind back 40 years (at a guess) I suspect this is where lots of awesome family memories were made. The walk is 6kms and takes you from Long Bay to Okura river. The views are well worth the walk. First bay is Grannys Bay then onto Pohutukawa Bay. My favourite was Pohutukawa Bay, apparently a favourite with nude bathers. Nobody there today much to Lances disappointment. On way back headed to the historical World war II gun emplacement. This was part of a defence network to protect the Waitemata harbour from Japenese invasion. (Didn't happen). Great
photo spot of the Long Bay Regional Park. The Regional park is very popular for both runners and walkers, as we head back the local Athletics club is holding a running event around the park with literally hundreds of runners and spectators. Had a lovely Chinese gentleman who was rather keen on our camper (very random). Wanted price to purchase so with limited English Lance sent him away with an exorbitant price on a piece of tissue....lol
