Bula!! We cant believe its out 10th day in Fiji already..After arriving at 4am we managed to get up and get on a boat from Nadi to Mana island with no jet lag at all! The boat journey was quite exciting however we were disheartened by the 'groovy gappers' that surrounded us! Mana was not what we expected and to be honest not the best first impression of Fiji. The beach was tiny very narrow and covered in seaweed, the food was awful and we booked a double room that was so tiny! Also, there was no electricity and no running water. But we did have nearly 4 litres of Fiji beer that night to improve the mood. Next we went to beachcomber island and it was a huge contrast to the Mana. The beach was ... read more

Was not at all what we expected. But once we got over the fact that we had another 9 days in this version of paradise we made the best of our situation. We started on the Island of Nacula, right at the top and stayed at a resort called Oarsmans Bay Lodge which was alright, apart for my two bed mates that woke me up in the middle of the night flapping around (cockroaches). This was the best beach of all of the Islands we visited. We then went to Taweva Island and stayed at Coral View Resort which was lovely, I didn't have any bed guests for the 2 nights whilst we were there, so I was very grateful for that. The atmosphere there was great, and I think this was our favourite place- they ... read more

Got back from Fiji this morning but it wasn't really what we expected. We did have a really good time but I think it was more because of the people we met. We imagined it would be clear water, white sand, blue skies and sunshine but most of the time the water was too shallow to swim in and there was seaweed and stuff in the sea, there wasn't long streches of white sand (the sand wasn't that white and there were quite a lot of rocks and coral on the sand) and we only had one day of clear blue sky and sunshine, most days it was cloudy! So really not what we expected at all. Plus we did a deal with the Awesome Adventures package and there were lots of hidden costs so we ... read more

Nadi (pronounced Nandy) It took 2 days in Auckland to organise, But one morning we made it to paradise. The package we booked before getting to Nadi Gave free hotel transfer which was pretty handy, And a free night's hotel, which was very cool, So we lazed for the day by the side of the pool. We were leaving the mainland, so a good night's rest Before sailing the Yasawas in the west. Korovou Resort Korovou Resort was our first destination, Set in a beautiful remote location. White sandy beach, lovely warm sea, This is how all desert islands should be! Electricity was on for just a few hours, And only cold water - so no hot showers! No internet, phones, and no TV, This was as basic as basic can be. But the Fijians were ... read more

Its been a while once again since we have done a blog. Latest news is that we are both doing well and are now in America, writing this at a small hostel in China town in San Fransisco which is a great city but enough of America as this blog is about Fiji! Just a shout out to Jon here, hope Sydney is going ok mate! Missing you loads. After working in New Zealand and meeting up with Kim, Jon and Ben again, we were both excited to be going to Fiji. The flight we got over there was excellent. We actually were on the maiden flight of one of Air New Zealands new planes we found out after reading about it in the paper in Fiji. What a nice man he was too! Completely restored my faith in people!!) .....but also because we didn't particulariy like LA!! Lots and lots of nutters, horrible bus rides (again full on nutters), didn't feel safe anywhere, Hollywood is scabby, lots of pollution, etc, etc...We had driven 1900 miles since San fran, we ... read more

Greetings blogger buddies from the islands of fiji, home to white sandy beaches and crystal blue seas. Well actually we are in new zealand now, but we were there for the last week. Spent a couple of days on the main island but then took the ferry out to some of the remote, northen islands. Here we chilled, basically. Lots of snorkelling, hammocking and other forms of lying in the sun. Was amazing, absolutely stunning scenery and brilliant people, both the fijians and the other travellers. Here are some more piccies to feed your insatiable piccie appetites. love love xxxxxxxxxx P.s, if you don't comment you are a five star loser.... read more

Arrived in Fiji on Thurs 30 March to absolutely peeing down rain, but it was hot so who cares?! Greeted at the airport by Fijian musicians which brightened things up considerably and got me in Fiji mode straight away. Transferred to a hotel in Nadi for the evening and with ten minutes the mozzies had got me the gits. Jenn and I donned our cozzies and jumped in the pool, swam a few token lengths and then lounged there supping bubbly - well why not?! Picked up by an Octopus Resort driver on Friday and taken to the marina where we caught the resort boat to Waya island, which is one of the first in the chain of the Yasawas. The rain had gone overnight, the sky was blue and the sun was shining and on ... read more
