7-11-10. must be my lucky day. got my seniors card and thought to ride the train for free to perth and back. parked in swanbourne but found the train wasn't running, under repair. repaired to peppy grove we're now the second richest people on earth. and second in quality of life after norway. the parity dollar now being one yankee dollar. strolled into breakfast in the park ending leaving lots of fruit cups and upmarket snags. sunshine. light clouds on a cool spring day. met several who knew me and yarned of times past. mega support for flag. wandered to yacht club where 'sail free' was in progress so i hopped on for a toodle around the bay jib only. mother and two daughters, she was totally taken by flag. i'm now wandering with my bloggie ... read more

oct 7,2010. momentum gaining. video now viewable on flagoz.com click on youtube. tom and i spent three hours yesterday cutting form the clips i'd done into a three minute collection of vox pop and flag waving. very exciting and rewarding that i've done it at last. this of course is just the beginning. i'm preparing the script for the 'chant'. it will feature a dinner scene of a couple with 'republic red' wine. she'll read the back label about the chant and he'll ravish her arm like morticia's husband in 'the munsters' tv series. then a fade to her dream where the announcer (denis cometti?, hosting rugby. it is a dream) says the aussies are going to do their world famous chant after the kiwi haka. then the chant and a fade back to the dinner ... read more

sept 19,2010. flagoz now has a facebook page called 'fred rieben'. let me know if you want to be 'friends'. also, was at the 'albion' hotel last night and inquired about using the upstairs function room for a clothing launch. i can get it for free and they have two flagpoles which hang out over stirling highway which we can fly two flags from for the day of the show. five or ten thousand will see that! and interestingly it is the old traditional pub with a banner on the wall upstairs which reads GOD SAVE OUR KING so we'll get that into the video. perfect. we do respect our traditions. we just want to create some new ones.... read more

sept 3, 2010. have googled 'fred rieben pilbara echo' and viewed article which appeared on the 28th. nice pic. otherwise, more plants cut on 'gaia reserve'. heartbreaking. some were ten years old. the white-cheeked honeyeaters and singing honeyeaters would perch in the top and churp. flagwise, asked woman at shop in freo if she would stock t-shirts. yes. then asked her if she would go to inaloo and pick quality and style of shirts that would sell in her shop. ok. sent file to printers and asked if it was sufficient. clear sunny days but the drought continues. wheatbelt crop now at serious risk. politically, hung parliament creating chances for change. spoke to d.f. whose great uncle was premier of western australia and whose brother is one of the richest people in australia and asked if ... read more

29-8-10 Yesterday got email from karrinup bowling club asking would I design a flag for them! What a wonderful compliment to the ‘southern cross and boomerang’. I was touched. on the dark side. I went to the gaia reserve where I have been planting for fifteen years to find bush sawn and strewn, plantings ripped out. Strangely calm surveying the random destruction. Age has mellowed me.
