A much cooler night and quality curtains allows for a bit of a sleep-in and both kids are reluctant risers. It might be the 18,000 steps we’re doing daily. Today will be no different.We share a quick backpackers breakfast (Woolworths croissants, fruit and nutri-grain) in the Kermandie Guest Room. An expansive room with two 8 seater square dining tables, a couple of smaller tables and chairs and a couch, in front of a fire-place; all overlooking Port Huon marina. Dozens of seagulls circle and cry above the rows of boats below. On the insistence of all at yesterdays dinner, we jump in the Kona and drive through Geeveston for the Hartz Mountain National Park. After leaving Hobart and heading for Kingston we drove to Franklin to the wooden boat centre where the smell of wood varnish was all pervading. Beautiful hand built boats were in various stages of construction. Then we dropped into Geeveston a small ' forest town' to post a few cards. I think we were probably the only people there that the post mistress didn't know by name. We wandered around the town and its park and dropped in for coffee at a little cafe sheltering under a canopy of trees. is a lovely compact liitle town with a fascinating heritage centre where we learnt all about the logging industry and forestry business. With our 3 days at White Beach completed, we made the decision to cross Hobart and head to the Tahune Air Walk before catching up with friends in Hobart before the weekend. The weather looked reasonably favourable for this plan as well with only a slight chance of rain. We were not so sure about that overnight though as the wind did surely blow. It was a little less on Monday morning for our departure, and the skies looked like they would once again clear. We left White Beach and drove around through Nubeena and completed the loop back to Eaglehawk Neck and Sorell.
