Went out to Greens Pool & Elephant Rocks in the morning. Who should be there but the 3 couples we can’t seem to shake ( or them shake us!!). While a bit further out the ocean was pretty rough, not at all in the Pool. Nice quiet and a lovely green.. Great place for a picnic and a quiet swim.
Back to the Toffee Facotry to see them busily making their toffee. Had to buy an ice cream cone, of course.
Then off to the wineries!! A bit of a disappointment as 2 of the ones we wanted to visit were closed. HOWEVER Linda picked one for the name and we, luckily, were near it. So we stopped in at Rickety Gate Winery. And had our tastings given by the owner. Asked for and got a lot of the history of the winery and had a really good tasting. Recommended.
Rained (poured) off and on all day, but not at our caravan park in Denmark. So, Linda’s washing efforts weren’t spoiled.

Denmark to Albany
Took the scenic highway to Albany. The plan was to quickly go thru the Whaling Station Museum, but we found it interesting
and stayed in Albany that night. Blowholes were not blowing as the seas were not rough enough to build up the water. Booked into the Big 4 Middleton Beach Holiday Park and low and behold we met up with our new friends again. Had to do another ‘happy hour’.

Albany to Esperance
Lots of tree, grain, cattle and sheep farms along the way. Got stopped again by the gendarmes. This time only for an operators license check. Did some shopping, a walk about the CBD. Rained overnight.
Caravan park is no longer a Big4, but a Top Tourist Park. Second one we have seen that changed to Top Tourist.
Finally saw some ships in port. Not sure, but suspect iron ore as there were a couple of trains during the night and we saw one when we were going North.

Esperance to Balladonia.
Noticed some road construction workers were using fly nets. So, it’s not just the tourists that can’t hack the flies. And a note that the flies are quick little buggers. AND many, many of them.
Balladonia petrol is 1.919. Caravan park pretty empty. Only 3 of us. We did get a
visit from a very friendly young kangaroo though

Balladonia to Eucla.
Sign along hwy and hwy is marked for R.F.D.S planes. That’s Royal Flying Doctor Service. 100F, very hot, with a hot wind. Stopped at Caiguna for petro (1.979) and the guy told us it was 43C. 45 minute time change just east of Caiguna. Cocklebiddy petro was 1.969, Madura was 1.970 but they were out of regular unleaded, then in Mundrabilla the 95 octane was 1.80. Temp as 39C. Finally in Eucla the reg unleaded was 1.80. Stayed overnight at the Eucla Caravan Park, barren with a few trees, lots of caravans compared to Balladonia. We got a good study of the night sky but not what we remember from Heron Island.

Eucla to Ceduna
Woke up to a windy 22C. Most caravans have already left and its only 6:30am!!! Beings that we haven’t seen much for wildlife, we must note that we saw a rabbit cross the road just after leaving the park. Stopped at lookouts, pretty awesome cliffs and lovely colour ocean. RFDS Emergency landing strips again. We have noticed that WA had paved shoulders but as soon as we crossed
the WASA border no more paved shoulders. Quarantine Checkpoint at the border is for the west bound traffic, east bound is just before Ceduna. No wild camels, no wombats, no kangaroo, no emus. Are there really any??? Yalata Roadhouse is closed. Surprisingly there is a fair bit of traffic. Back into farming/cattle/sheep country. We crossed the NULLARBOR and will get a certificate to prove it!!!
We stopped at the Head of the Bight to see if there were any whales left. NONE. But they have closed the entry kiosk, so you get to go to the path ways free of charge. No whales, no charge!!
Very nice setup, with walkways down to the cliff edge. Good views. Nice place.
Windy, windy, windy in Ceduna. Apparently it was 40degrees this morning, but the temp has dropped significantly today. Yeh, and we gained 2 ½ hours crossing the border.
