After a couple of days rest in Glenelg near Adelaide (this travelling is tiring business!) we picked up our next camper and embarked on to the Great Ocean Road (GOR). To join up with the GOR we travelled through the Grampian region (Geriwerd to the Koories, the Aboringal people of that area) with its strilking mountains. We then hit the GOR taking in the numerous scenic stops along the way ending that leg in Melbourne before setting off along the princes highway to Sydney.... read more

26th November 2008 - WAKEY, ADELAIDE & SUNSET STRIP!!! We left Port Augusta and set off on the road to Adelaide fairly early. The roads were getting busier as we got nearer the city and you could see the sea!!! So excited at that point!!! We swapped drivers in none other than Port Wakefield....not the shakey we all know and love but cool all the same!! I then drove to Gelnelg and managed to avoid colliding with all the cars weaving in and out as we drove on the outskirts of the city!! My feet were in real shock though.....clutch control and braking?!!! New concepts after outback driving!!! We found somewhere in Glenelg to park free for a few hours and wondered to the tourist information to check out campsites in the area.......turns out there are ... read more

25/11/08 = Port Augusta and the Ants Woke up and got our 2 minute shower. Really was a 2 minute shower and had to pay 20cents for it - apparently the water really sparse/expensive in Coober Pedy. Before left town, went to see the underground church, which was really cool. Very old style, with exposed walls and a lectern and big crosses made out of wood. Shame that the chairs were just normal plastic chairs; didn't really look right. After that, we did the usual re-stocking of ice and petrol and set off for Port Augusta. I drove first part to Coondambo, then swapped and Deb got us to Port Augusta. Could see that we were leaving outback on this journey because started to see the sea and coast - really nice. Found a caravan park ... read more

We arrived in Adelaide and stayed here for 2nights, met two English couples from Enfield and Berkshire, had a good night chatting and playing cards and drinking our box wine (classy) with them. The 2nd day we headed to the city by public bus, went to the main shopping street, bought some new tops (oh i miss shopping and primark!), we walked to Adelaide Cricket Ground, walked along park of the Torren River, which runs through the city, such a lovely day. We left in the day morning for a little town(village) called Port Elliott, but on the way we stopped at Christies Beach, then Victor Harbour, this town was the 1st town in OZ with a tram line pulled by horses, these are still running but just for the tourists across to another island. Stu ... read more

Sorry that it has been so long between entries. But nothing really has been happening...we're living the quiet life over here. Both settled down well into work. Steve worked at Fizz on the Beach, and had the best time down there with that crowd. I start work at Coles (surprise surprise) :) I started at 3IC of the Deli, so I was working nights until 930. Then in June I was offered Nightfill Manager position. it was a big step, obviously, but something that I wanted to try. It was certainly an experience, and one that I now know my weak points and what I need to learn. But it was good fun. Our main group of friends was from Coles, as I quickly became friends with the deli girls there, which continued even when I ... read more

DAY 1 : I begin this entry from Eucla - a town ... well more of a “property” .... about 700kms east of Norseman. I left Norseman this morning at around 7.30am, and as expected, I hit some light rain for the first hour or so on the road. Whilst not a huge amount of water, it was enough to raise a spray from the wheels of the road trains heading down the highway both east and west. Let me assure you that this does not make passing these beasts any easier - but most of the truckies are good and will flash their right indicators to specify when it is safe to pass. I have to say that the Nullabor so far is all it was written up to be - a mind numbing drive ... read more
