We had finally finished our long journey down the East Coast of Australia so we donated our camping equipment and headed towards the city to drop the car off in Adelaide and to meet Natalie’s Australian relatives and to say goodbye to our little Yaris! We met Diane and Lillian and set off with them to see a few sights around Williamstown. Firstly, we went to the famous Jacobs Creek winery and enjoyed tasting half a dozen different wines, thinking each time that they tasted the same as the last. From there we went to ‘The Whispering Wall’ which is a 135m curved dam that allows one person from one side of the dam to whisper to the other side because of the structures design. That day we met David who is Diane’s Husband and Mark ... read more

Campervaning in Aus Our 4 wheel adventure began! We picked up our Calypso Camper (a 99’ Toyota hightop with a lot of personality and miles on the clock) from a guy with a big moustache in Adelaide, he showed us round including the discovery of a red back spider in with our gas bottle, he sprayed it and said “you’ll be right” – no sleepless nights for us then! We drove down to Victor Harbour through some beautiful vineyards and spent our first night by the beach. We visited a wildlife sanctuary and Will had his first kangaroo encounter, they were big fellows close up and we nearly go overrun for our bag of Kangaroo food! The next few days were spent making our way along the coast before heading inland to the Grampians National Park. ... read more

This trip to Adelaide was a small one. A girlfriend and I plus our two bubs had flown over for an old friends 40th....oh, dont tell her i said old hehe. We booked into a small apartment in glenelg right off the main drag but within walking distance to everything and there is certaintly everything you need on that main road. there is a shopping centre, alcohol shop, heaps of clothing shops and pubs and nightclubs. We were 2 blocks off the main street which just sopped hte noise of the drunkards in the middle of the night. April was a bit cold for the beach in adelaide but we went down to the jetty and looked around the art gallery there and the museum. Otherwise, for 2 days we met up with our old best ... read more

G'day from Glenelg (pronounced Glen-L)! Flew from Canberra to Adelaide on Thursday the 17th...St Paddies Day!. Staying at the Glenelg Beach backpackers Hostel...literally a two minute walk to the beautiful while sandy beach of Glenelg. This place has a lovely resort feel to it. The tram is a 30 second walk from the hostel and takes you directly to city center. Once settled into the hostel I took off for the beach but I didn't quite make it. I was shanghaied by two fun St. Patrick's Day revelers who offered to buy me a drink! I sat down and they ordered a bottle of Shiraz. Yup...this place is cool! Took a walk to the end of the pier afterwards feeling groovy. Past two 'other' guys eating yummy looking fish and chips, that were wrapped in paper. ... read more

Well the day has arrived that sparked the trip. We are heading to Neil Diamond show tonight. We had a couple of belated birthday presents to post (Happy Birthday Rob & Ethan, Sorry they are late). We chose to head to a shopping centre with a movie theatre to take in a movie. We really enjoyed the movie “The Kings Speech”. Certainly deserves the accolades as far as we were concerned. We headed back to the Caravan park and had a relaxed swim in the pool, before heading out to the show. We drove to the Entertainment centre and found a park not to far away. The show was half an hour late in starting and the locals were a little agitated, but the bonus was when Neil diamond came on stage he stayed on for ... read more

Another day of relaxation, gee tough! We Visited the Zoo to check out the Panda bears and other animals at the Zoo. As Zoo’s go, it is ok, good to view the Panda’s, but our choice of Zoos, would be Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin) where the animals appear to have more than adequate space to at least feel free and be closer to nature. Animal welfare definately a priority and in good condition at this Zoo. From the Zoo we headed to Port Adelaide, advertized as, Market day as well as a sea horse farm, we felt would be interesting. We headed out to the Port and had to do a search for a suitable food place. Did a walk of the markets that are in an old wharehouse. A good wander through these with the ... read more

The plans for the day were, head to Glenelg and catch the tram into the city, visit the markets, check out some of the tourist sights around the city. The hint we received from the tram conductor yesterday helped us find parking near the tram stop at Brighton Road, and the tram came along shortly after we parked. We hopped on and as we were attempting to sort out how to pay for the trip, a friendly local explained the conductor would find us. We took a seat and he was correct, the conductor came along and asked if anyone required tickets, having read online the cost, Rick only had to show his seniors card, this gives him free trips on the weekends, as well as between 9:03 & 3pm Weekdays. The card shown, appeared to ... read more

We had every intention today of visiting the South Australian Museum and the Aboriginal Arts museum, but we got to the first museum at 9:30 and the place doesn't open until 10.00 am. Change of plan - decided to go to Glenelg. We caught the tram, which is free in the central part of Adelaide . We had to pay A$2.6 as we were going 0n a longer journey that took about 25 minutes. Glenelg is a lovely little beach resort, and was relatively quiet when we were there. You alit from the tram in Glenelg and what is like a little piazza. A marble monument and a palm tree lined walk with the quaint Town Hall off to the right We got settled on the beach. I was having a read as Di went for ... read more

"What you've done becomes the judge of what you're going to do - especially in other people's minds... When you're traveling, you are what you are, right there and then... People don't have your past to hold against you... There are no yesterdays on the road.." As the days count down to my next adventure, I find myself singing constantly.. whether it's humming in the car or just sitting at work with the song continuously playing in my head, the same old song loops itself in my brain.... "On the road again Just can't wait to get on the road again. The life I love is making music with my friends And I can't wait to get on the road again. On the road again Goin' places that I've never been. Seein' things that I may ... read more
