Finally found a computer that allows me to upload photos to the blog so hopefully the selection I have put up with this blog, help illustrate the text! Cairns is certainly different from Darwin and is a lot more spread out. We arrived again at a stupid time in the morning so had to wait a long time before we could check in. Wherever you are, finding your new hostel is a tense experience - as always we looked out of the window everytime the airport shuttle bus stopped, hoping that it wasn't/was our hostel! Thanksfully the first place it stopped that looked quite good was for our hostel! Phew! This hostel was Dans choice so he was quite relieved as well. Bleary eyed we walked around the central street where our hostel was, grabbed some ... read more

Day 47 We start the day off packing up are gear, this truck is really loaded… and off into town we go. We have a list of supplies we need and we stock up for the next few days, get some coldcuts and head to the park. It was a very relaxing day just sitting in the park reading our books. We read till about 3ish then the call came, our shocks are in. finally. We go to a different caravan park in town this time and set up for the night, they had a pool!! And it had a pirate ship with a slide out of it!! How can you go wrong. Speaking of going wrong the pass side shock came off easy… but the driver side took me about 1.5 hours to bang off. ... read more

Day 46 Monday is here!!! And hopefully our parts are in. start the day of easy, pack up our tents and load the truck up and away we go into cairns again. Pinks power steering is our first stop, drop off the seal kit, the balk at our idea to just keep the fluid topped up and run with manual steering, but hey, if you were running a company, you would push for us to get it fixed to. The to Williams auto electrical, return the starter, that was about a 45 minute wait. Poor old guy didn’t know how to use the debit machine. “damn computers” lol. Then we stop in at supercheap auto…. And…. Drumroll….. no parts. Dammit. Onto a campsite in town now. Forgot the name, but they wont forget us. Lol. Me ... read more

Day 42 God dammit, how do we fall for this crap.. Here I am standing at the edge of a tower 164 feet up, looking down, damn… didn’t I tell everyone I hate heights, now you want me to jump. The guy at the top gives me the count down, 5 4 3 2 1 and I am gone, jump without fear, push off and enjoy the free fall only to see the ground getting closer and closer then at the last second spring back up to safety. What a rush. Sean jumps next and Jackie on her second jump, jumps backwards for a new effect. Interesting, then we all ended up on the minjin swing for one hell of a fast ride. The adrenaline is pumping today for sure. And that’s always alright. But of ... read more

We spend the morning chatting with Charlie and end up leaving around lunchtime after filling up at Coen (no credit card machine so I have to use up the last of the cash we have) the journey starts agian. We are only a few kms out of Coen when we notice Tank feels funny. Oh no we got another puncture! This time it is a little different though as there seem to be a lot more people around on their way up into the Cape, even though we don't actually need anyones help this time. Shenton gets the spare tyre (that has only just been fixed at the Tip) back on Tank and we are off again. Shenton wants to find some fishing and we stop at the Archer River Roadhouse but we seem to have ... read more

Day 41 - A sad day for sure, we head straight into Cairns for 8am to hit up some internet quickly and get directions then get our dvds of our jumps. And walk James and Sam to the bus for 9am. After them being here for a month it feels weird watching them go, very sad, almost like we live here full time and he was just visiting, even though we to are visitors.. They embark on a 30 hour bus ride and we walk back to the truck and head back to camp just to sit around for the rest of the day, pack a bit and do a complete clean of the truck… james forgot his rock, but I have it tucked away in the truck for safe keeping for now. ... read more

Day 40 Today starts off somewhat okay, with the thoughts of skydiving in the back of our heads we are starting to get excited but first on the list is for Me and Jackie to swing into innsfail to get a new set of rear tires, Cooper allterains 170 each installed, I can live with that. We pull off that old Toyota tire, which was ready to let all the tread fly off at any minute, upon further inspection it’s a split rim to.. oh my, safety first. We drop the Toyota tire off at buddies house with a note of thanks and some cash, there are some nice people out here. But now it was onto the real challenge of the day, could we jump out of an airplane… After searching for 30 minutes we ... read more

Day 39 The fun begins around noon today with us heading out to the barron river for some whitewater rafting levels 2-3 which was fun, but not the rush we were looking for. Although we did have a blast riding the river without the boat for a bit. And some of the smalled rapids through us around pretty good, I didn’t fall out which was a bonus.(waiting for pictures still) While we did that Jackie skipped ahead and we and jumped from a 50m tower or 164 feet whichever you prefer, pretty intense, she loved it and says we have to try it. She also went on the minjin swing, a swing that drops you form 45m up and you hit 120km/h y the bottom. All seemed like a super fun day till we started heading ... read more

Now the real road trip begins, we decide to just keep driving for as long as possible, we start out at around 11am and I make up some sandwiches which we eat literally as we are driving. We stop off at a driver reviver station by the side of the road, which we have seen since Brisbane advertising free coffee but we have never stopped yet. They really do give you free tea and coffee Michael, no tricks, they provide them as the roads are so long that they want to prevent road accidents. We just ask for hot water as they dont have any green tea so we make our own. I have a quick play of the guitar then its back in the Tank and Shenton just kept on driving, at around 9 o'clock ... read more
