Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands

Hi everybody

Well its been a busy 2 weeks starting off with my trip to the Great Barrier Reef on Wednesday 7th of April, I went with a company called Dep Sea Divers Den and did a 3 day/2 Night diving trip where I did my Advanced PADI course.

I learnt night diving, navigation, perfect buoyancy, deep diving (28m!) and diving from a boat, I saw a lot underwater and it resembles a lot like the film Nemo with hundreds of colourful fish and I also saw a turtle being hand fed coral about 2m away from me! I met a lot of cool people and would recommend it to anyone.

After this I took a 12 hour bus trip to Airle Beach where I went sailing on the Whitsunday Islands national park on a boat called the Boomerang, the fastest boat on the Whitsundays which had also won Americas Cup races. The Islands were beautiful especailly Whitehaven Beach, luckily there was a strong wind so we got the sails up and the boat leaned so far over its was almost a 60 degre angle. I did this for 2 days/2 Nights and each night was folllowed by drinking games and socialising.

From here I will take a 18 hour bus ride to Brisbane where I will hopefully be looking for a Woofing placement or I can stay in a house with a friend of a friend for a week, before meeting up with other freinds I made in Tasmania for the last few days of April before my flight to New Zealand on May 1st.

Once in New Zealand I will be going on the Kiwi Experience Bus and I will be going on the Kitchen Sink tour so I can see as much of New Zealand as posible and maybe alos plan to do a bit of Woofing there but I will see how I do for time and money!

Hi Geert Yea well thanks for the update sounds like you are having a good time. Time flies you have done so much since you left. You dont let thegrass grow under your feet do you. Rhonda is going real well at the moment to. Had a lot of rain at the weekend.It was agood rain just what we needed actually. Hai Geert, Nice to read the up date on your trip. We wish you a good flight on the 1st of May and we are very interested to hear what you'll be seeing on that kiwi experience bus. We can't imagine what a kitchen sink tour is supposed to be, but we expect you'll explain that to us one day. Again lots of love from all of us. Hoi Geert, Goed te lezen dat je daar een geweldige tijd hebt. We hadden een aantal weken niet op je site gekeken maar zijn nu weer helemaal bij. Uiteraard misten we je op 6 maart en vooral op de familiefoto! en de jongeren onder ons ook met het stappen. Er zijn geluiden dat er volgend jaar een herkansing komt. In Friesland hebben we al een paar weken prachtig weer dus de eerste motorkilometers zijn gemaakt. Nog heel veel plezier daar en we hopen je komende zomer nog te ontmoeten na de 16e juli. dikke tut theo en betty
