Elizabeth river
Our first fishing spot We made up for the in house day yesterday. We were up and about fairly early and got the fishing gear all sorted. I made some sangas and cold drinks as its even hotter today. Our first stop was for bait, and then off to Elizabeth river. Its a tidal river that runs in from the Arafura sea. We heard that there are some massive trevally in this river and ideally you'd head out in a boat. But we joined in with the number of other hopefuls on the jetty. Luckily there were some canopies over the jetty because the sun was pretty intense even though it was pretty early. An old greek guy told us that there wasn't too many fish out there today.. Mmmm not such a good start. but then all of a sudden a yell from the end and someone was dragging in a very large fish down the end! That got us excited. And not too long after that I got a bite! The fish was probably a trevally and it was big! (No joke!) But it jumped off. Arghhh! Then a few seconds later the guy next to us has a massive fish that snapped

Robs setting up for a catch, you just never know what can happen! his line in half! He said it was a shark!
But soon after things went very quiet. After waiting patiently and enjoying the beautiful sun we decided to try our luck at Nightcliff jetty.
This place is seriously stunning to sea. Again the photos wont do the colours justice. The water is incredibly blue... And clear! You could see Mackeral jumping out of the water at the end of the jetty, fish galore! We got very excited and stayed out in the very hot sun feeding these fish for a couple more hours. But sadly thats all we were doing, feeding them. Got heaps of nibbles, saw big fish dancing through the water, but none stayed on! They were very clever .
After this we went to the Fanny Bay Goal. It was closed down after Cyclone Tracy knocked all the fences down (hard to keep prisoners locked in without fences! It was a very dismal place. It had a significant display of the last hanging that happened there. Very sobering read...
All in all we had a fun day but by the time we got back we were really over exposed from the sun. Both

Our second spot, again you just never know! of us were pretty buggared! Had a late afternoon nap!
We felt better after that and decided to doll ourselves up a little and head on out to dinner. There wont be too many opportunities to go out in a civilized way after we leave Darwin. We ended up in a Korean restaurant in the city 'Seoul food'. It was a beautiful night! And the food was absolutely delicious! I'd never had Bibimbap before and I was totally sold! Its a traditional Korean food. Yummy!
After a little wander through the casino watching all the punters lose their money (okay we did have a little bit of fun on the pokies) we headed back home. So a big day and a good day! Tomorrow we will have a good think about what the plans for after Darwin are...
