So it was an early start today, i had to meet the coach for my trip to Blue Mountains at 7.45 am AND i bought a hat on the way !!!!
What a great day, the mountains are about 90 mins drive away, its where that lad got lost last year and was missing for 2 weeks and presumed dead, but then was found !!!! anyway ..... they are called the Blue Mountains because ????? guess what ????? yes - they look blue in colour, its a HUGE area that had breathtaking views from, waterfalls, and rock formations that have aborigional tales about them.
I met lots of intersting people from Uk, france, USA and Russia. So a very continental day it was.
One of the most famous if called the Three Sisters, the story goes that a father has 3 daughters that he hides when he leaves town, to protect them from evil spitis, he forbids them to leave the cave and guess what ?? they disobay him and go out to play, then one of them knocks a rock off and it falls into the river below and it wakes the aforementioned evil spirit, the spirit tries
to harm themjsut as the father returns and to protect his daughters he uses his magic wand to turn his daughters into stone while he fights the evil spirit ....... are you still with me ? Anyway he falls and drops his stick and it turns himself into stone !!!! so he couldnt help his daughters anymore. Legend says his spirit still roams the banks of the river to look for the magic stick to turn them all back. And the moral is ....... so as your dad tells ya or else.
Then it was time for an hours walk through the mountains and rainforest, it ws just like hashing !!!! then we walked down 900+ steps down the mountain (my poor knees ached) and we were rewarded with great views and then a ride on the steepest inclined train ride in te world, it goes at an angle of 52 degrees, like a ride on the fun fare.
There was a quick trip to visit the Olympic village and then back via a ferry ride. Quick change and then out for pizza, I had kangaroo pizza, gorgious !!!! with Clare one of my roomies, shes going home
tomorrow after 5 weeks away.
Tomorrow I'm seeing karen my hairdresser, she lives in Manly so i'm really looking forwrd to catching up with her.
p.s Update on tonight, i went to the top of the Shangri La that overlooks the bay, its the poshest hotel in sydney and the Youth Hostel is next door. Anyway i got dressed up and walked in as if i owned the place, went up in the lift with a group if people who signed me in the cocktail bar, then as i was walking in witeh them, a guy stopped me and asked me to look at some photos, and had this randon conversation about whether the photos were a good likeness of the friend he was with, anyway to cut a long story short, i ended up staying with them for the next hour and half or so !!!! they were a great couple (or individuals as they pointed out) just good friends !!! we all had a great laugh - very similar sence of humour.
Only one slight pregnat pause was when Jess said that Tim's brother was in prison, for quite an unusual crime. He was the
head of a cult and i think did quite naughty things, so he'sis now residing in a forensic prison like our Broadmore.
so there we go .... everyday such lovely and intersting people to find.

woweeee you've only been away a week!
Krikey Shiela!!!..... I can't believe how much you have done already....I'm having dejavu as I remember writing this when reading your Thailand blogs. It was so lovely to hear you on the phone and I could tell as soon as you spoke that you were having an amazing time! Sydney sounds like it has been fabulous. I have to say though- your first experience of an Opera wasn't the best so I guess that it shouldn't have been a shock....but like they say...When in Rome! It sounds like you are meeting loads of people and having a great time, I have to say the pictures you showed me of the Hostel do look incredible.... Just like those beer adverts... 'probably the best Hostel in the world'!!! Everyone here is good, saw Vicki last week and she's fine and big! Going to see her next week one eve too, to help her sort out setting her direct debits- fun fun fun!! haahaa. She has said that obviously they don't have the net so I said I would pass on her excitement for you on her behalf! I'll ring Grandma this weekend too to update her on your adventures! And last but by no means least.... HAPPY MOTHERS DAY for tomorrow!! Not sure if it's mothers day there, but we will be sending our love to you anyhow. Have a wonderful day, you really do deserve to enjoy every minute as you are just FABULOUS! Enjoy opening your card in the heat, probably on some luxurious beach!! Lots of love from all of us at home. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
