well I left the hostel and caught the early ferry to Manly at 9.30am, and was met by Karen my friend and ex-hairdresser, big hugs all round. She was kind enuff not only to invite me to spend the day wiht her but also stay overnight, plus a very very long overdue haircut.

Her apartment is about 2 mins walk from the most amazing beach, it was just like you see on all the adverts and films, white sand, blue ocean with great waves, beachball and last but definaatly not least, hunky sexy lookin men !!!! everywhere you look theres another one !!!!

We had a great day, we went all around Manly centre, strollin, browsing the market, people watching and eating of course !!!! I spent the day with Karen and all her friends, who were all lovely and made me feel very welcome. I was introduced to a new tipple .... gin and pineapple, very refreshing and easy to slip down !!!! We watched the sunset in a bar on the waterside, quite beautiful.

I saw my first snake in the ladies toilet, it was small admitedly, but still a snake, so i went and told the barman who went in armed with a large stick and a collegue !!! 5 mins later he came out and threw it on our table !!!!!!!! ........... alas it turned out to be a snake of the rubber kind !!!!!!

So more friends turned up and we went for something to eat, listened to a band and phoned my mum as it was mothers day. Then it was bed time. Off to Byron bay tomorrow so watch this space.

Helloooooooo, glad to hear you have got your haircut....though it's a long way to go every 6 weeks!! How exciting that you saw your first snake- I imagine there will be a few more before the trip is up eeeek! I'm sooo jealous, it sounds so hot and lovely- we have sunshine here but it's still pretty chilly!! Saw Vicki yesterday, took Moffat to her house and gave her a tour! Vicki's great, and it sounds like Katie is getting her a bed yippee! So where are you off to next??!..... are you getting excited about Steve's Zoo- that's the part I am really jealous about! Well so glad you are now there and acclimatised? Pete says he still wants you to be careful as they have one of the most dangerous snake over there its called the "spitting trouser snake" and it could attack at any time and without reason so please still be vigilant especially with your new type of Gin drinking!!!!! Need to sort your memory card out can't wait to see pics of what we missed!! Hope your hair is good not too much off but enough to keep you cool?? weather good here at mo but all change by the end of the week - heavy rain! so think of dismal england as you venture onto your next lush bay! take care and enjoy lol fi x

Your a bloody case the other side of the world and your gettin your hair cut bloody typical. Great to see your in the groove Down under.we all went out for a Chinese for mothers day and had a lovely day. Mum filled us in with your cocktail antics and all that.
