Tuesday 11th March, we got up early and left the house around 8am. Stopped off for a civilised coffee break half-way and got to the Hunter Valley in about 2 1/2 hours. Wine tasting aussie style, as you can see from the photos is a lovely day out. Wasn't so keen on the whites in the vineyard myself (Semillion) but a couple of the reds were gorgeous. We had a gorgeous cheesy lunch, the brie and goats cheese in particular were fab. Finished off the whole day with fish dinner at the club. Thanks Janet and Tom for making my stay such an enjoyable one in Australia. As usual, great company and full of laughs x x x x... read more

Well the last few weeks has seen the best weather weve had since weve been here........ nearly 4 1/2 months now.....and we thought it was time we went up to the wine growing region to sample some of the local vino's! After booking the weekend....we found that there was a wine tasting weekend going on in the city and so we spent most of the sunday in Hyde park sampling wine in the sun, preparing ourselves for the real thing! The Hunter Valley is 2 1/2 hours north of Sydney and after a long week we drove up to our accomodation which was situated on the Thalgara Vineyard.......a small family run boutique wine producer. An early start the next day saw us head round the corner to the Lindemans Vineyards to start our wine sampling...... unfortunately ... read more

Hello, We picked up our campervan in Belmore Sydney, and hit the road going to the north. We hope the wet season will be gone by the time we arrive there. Just north of Sydney is the Hunter valley they grow vines, so we decided to stop and visit the place, known as producers of our housewine. Tasted great, as always. Marijke en Luc.... read more

Hi guys Lynda here, we've hit the road. Picked the car up and left Sydney with a promise to return one day, I really love it there, but am sure there are more pleasures ahead for us. Anyway with Tina in the driving seat and me the navigator we were off. First stop the Hunters Valley, one of the wine regions in Australia. We arrived about 5ish and for a change it didn't take us too long to decide on our accommodation. We stayed at a brewery called Potters Hotel and Brewery. Had a lovely room, really plush after some of the accommodation we've stayed at and it had a brewery on site with $2.50 "schooners" of lager - hoorah!! and a pool - what more could you ask for!! Wine, I hear you say!! Of ... read more

How good it was to be home again! I'm sure Adam was apprehensive about the long flight ahead as he watched his very overtired wife become increasingly hyperactive and over-excited at the very thought of boarding the plane to carry them home! I was however on my best behaviour for the flight, entertaining myself (while managing not to drive Adam too nuts) for the entire 23 hour journey. The touchdown at Sydney was magic...coming out of the arrival gates to our family waiting...priceless. And while we arrived back to tales of the pitiful summer had by all, and witnessed first hand the torrential down pours arriving at random, followed by the wind and then eventually sunshine again, it was still so wonderful to be back where the air is warm and smells like rain and cut ... read more
