Grafton to Inverell via Glen Innes along the Gwydir Highway We were up, packed and ready for breakfast by about 8.00 a.m. Terry again provided us with a delicious breakfast - the same fare as the day before - and we again shared it with our cute green frog. Inverell - another clean and tidy town. After we had settled in to our motel we went for a walk through the town but the rain bucketed down within about 10 minutes of leaving our room!

We drove to the Copeton Dam just outside Inverell but it was very low - only 12% full.

We spoke to the girl at the kiosk and she told us that the area is in terrible drought, as you can see by the dirt, and yet Grafton had been so green.

This little calf was very friendly and so cute that I could have taken him home for Sascha!

He wasn't at all afraid of us and was only about six feet from us when I took the photo.

The water level should have been almost up to where we were, so you can see how low the dam levels were.

The streets were quite pretty, with flower beds and lovely trees to greet you.

The Town Hall was quite an impressive building.

A better view of the Courthouse - all the buildings were very well preserved. Inverell is a very pretty township.

This church was across the road from our motel. Another fine example of the architecture of Inverell.

This creek was manmade and ran through the gardens of the Inverell Tourist Centre

The gardens of the tourist centre were very picturesque. The rain was coming down quite heavily but that didn't stop us enjoying the beauty of the place.
