Jeni Robinson

I'm married to Steve and have one daughter, Sascha, who is 28 and is married to Brad, and Tim, 29, is my stepson and Amy, 26, is my stepdaughter. We live in Brisbane and I am a Court Reporter. I lived in Wellington, New Zealand when I was 17 for 18 months and Canberra for six years, where Sascha was born. We love travelling and have been cruising around the islands of Hawaii and Fanning Island, Kiribati and stayed at Rarotonga and Aitutaki in the Cook Islands twice. Our next trip is self-drive around Italy for two weeks and 15 days cruise the Rhine and the Danube from Budapest to Amsterdam in October/November 2009.

Inverell to Brisbane via Inglewood, Clifton and Gatton Woke around 6.45 and after a light breakfast - Steve had Just Right, Peaches, Toast, Juice and Tea and Jeni had Toast and Coffee - we headed for home. We were a little concerned about the radiator again so decided not to stop until lunch in case we had more problems. We headed out to Ashmore and up to Texas and Inglewood where we stopped for lunch. It had been raining most of the way and so we sat under a gazebo in the courtyard of the cafe where Steve had Spaghetti Bolognaise and Jeni had Crab Sandwiches and we both had a Strawberry Smoothie. It was a lovely, relaxing lunch and then we were back on the road. We decided to go the back roads and so ... read more

Grafton to Inverell via Glen Innes along the Gwydir Highway We were up, packed and ready for breakfast by about 8.00 a.m. Terry again provided us with a delicious breakfast - the same fare as the day before - and we again shared it with our cute green frog. We then chatted to the other guests and promised that we would be back to share this beautiful part of the country, and especially the fantastic B&B and all its many trimmings! There are three words we would use to describe Clarence River B&B: Quality, Generosity and Hospitality. We've stayed at a lot of wonderful B&Bs but this really was the classiest in all aspects. We were on the road again by 10:00 and headed off to the Gibraltar Ranges National Park along the Gwydir Highway. The ... read more

Clarence River B&B We woke early and Terry provided a beautiful breakfast on the verandah, looking out to the Clarence River. Steve had cereal, poached eggs, toast, tomatoes and bacon with juice and tea, while Jeni had Spanish omelet, bacon and toast with juice and coffee. The weather was great and we had a cute green frog as our breakfast companion, sitting on the garden light below the verandah, which actually let Jeni touch and hold him! After a wander through the grounds and three games of pool (Steve won all three!) Greg took us out on his power boat for a trip along the Clarence River. We had a wonderful time, saw several cows "paddling" in the river and beautiful homes along the cliff tops. After about an hour and a half we arrived back ... read more

Easter Friday: After attending Church we headed out for our driving long weekend. Our journey took us through Beenleigh to Tamborine Village and then on to Beaudesert. Just outside Beaudesert we got "stuck" behind a caravan which seemed to be "not quite legal"! It was listing way down on the right hand side so that the bottom of the caravan was way out of alignment and the right hand side of the caravan was bowed out so that it looked like it would burst open at any moment. (Obviously there was something extremely heavy in it which wasn't tied down.) Consequently the driver was having difficulty in keeping the caravan from swaying all over the road. We actually thought it was probably full of something a little bit illegal as he was also acting very suspicious, ... read more

Tuesday 17th / Wednesday 18th FebruaryAfter arriving at the airport at around midnight we checked in and finally left at 1.30 a.m. (Cook Islands time) after being serenaded by a gentleman playing the ukelele in the airport terminal. We felt very sad to leave and hope we will get back here some time in the future. We had a great flight to NZ with hardly any turbulence and we all dozed most of the way before arriving in Auckland at 5.55 a.m. local time on Wednesday. Where had Tuesday gone? We only had an hour and a half of Tuesday!! After a very quick look around Auckland Airport Jeni was able to purchase a paua shell toothpick holder and then we boarded our flight for Sydney at 6.30 a.m. The flight was also without any turbulence ... read more

Final Lazy Hours in ParadiseWe woke very early to another magnificent day and wandered over for breakfast at 7.45. Afterwards we went back to our room and packed for our trip home before checking out and paying our resort bill, which was quite a bit under budget - a nice surprise! We then met Mel and played May I for ages beside the pool - Steve again was the champion! Next it was time for lunch, before swimming and lazing around the pool for the afternoon as it was very hot. We were sort of in limbo as we didn't have a room to go to but we still could use all the resort facilities - which was a blessing. We all showered from 4.30 to 5.30 and then played May I again in White Sands ... read more

God's Own Country on His Day!We woke at 7.15 a.m. to a magnificent day - very warm and no clouds after a restful sleep. After enjoying breakfast at 7.45 we caught the church bus to Cook Islands Christian Church in Arorangi Village at 9.30. The main church building was undergoing some renovations so we had the service in the Sunday School hall. It was a great service - the youth took a lot of it and it was very challenging message and skits about choosing to go to Heaven or hell by the way we live. We were invited to a delicious lunch afterwards where we met Winnie and Boaza from Aitutaki who invited us to their home in Aitutaki when we come again! Then it was back to our resort where Mel went for a ... read more

Valentines Day We woke around 6.30 with very sore sunburnt legs! We learnt that when you're snorkelling you MUST put sunscreen on the back of your legs and the underside of your arms! After lathering ourselves in moisturiser we headed over for breakfast at about 8.00 a.m. Afterwards Jeni checked for emails from home before meeting Mel and Steve for a bus trip to the Avarua Markets where we wandered around for ages. It was extremely humid at the markets and we all found it a bit overwhelming. While Jeni shopped for souvenirs, gifts and a bright blue tie-dye shirt Mel and Steve met up with the Danish couple from the Aitutaki trip and when she rejoined them we all sat and chatted for a while. Afterwards Mel purchased some gifts for her family and then ... read more

Dinner on the Most Perfect 10th Anniversary Ever!!After arriving back from Aitutaki we chatted all the way to our resort to the Danish couple we had walked around One Foot Island with - they were lovely people and we wished them all the best for their journey home the next day after travelling around Australia, New Zealand and the Cook Islands for six months. When we got back to our rooms we had very welcome showers and lathered on moisturizer as both of us were VERY burnt, especially on the back of our legs, arms and faces due to being face down in the water for so many hours of the day. We had put on sunscreen in the morning but forgot to reapply it in the afternoon! We learnt for next time!!! Then we were ... read more

A Day in the Life of the Most Perfect 10th Anniversary Ever!! We were woken by a wake-up call at 6.00 a.m. to ensure we would be on time for the transfer to the airport for our day in Aitutaki! The weather was absolutely beautiful, especially after it had rained all day the day before, which was when we had originally wanted to go - God was certainly looking after us by making sure the tour was full for that day!!! We went for an early breakfast and then boarded the bus for this special day. At the airport we met Rarie, who worked at the Reception of our resort, with her baby grandson Paul, who was absolutely gorgeous and didn't stop smiling. On the plane we were all given window seats, which was perfect to ... read more
