Back in May 2011 we took delivery of our Horizon Wattle Motorhome with the intention of keeping her (Bushbaby) for three years. Something went wrong with the timing as we kept Bushbaby for over 4 years and travelled about 85,000 kilometres circumnavigating both the continent of Australia, and our neighbour island of Tasmania. That time flew fast and resulted in over 200 blogs. We had come to a time where for a variety of reasons we felt it was time to sell Bushbaby. We started with a sign in the window when we were in Carnarvon Gorge, and then an online ad when we got home. We had a cash sale within 24 hours of the ad appearing online, which rather surprised us. One of the interested parties from Carnarvon Gorge phoned us as they crossed ... read more

At last I'm catching up with myself; I'm recently back from Brunswick Heads in the Northern Rivers area of NSW, where I enjoyed sun, sea and R&R. I was recommended this hippy area by a friend of Darius', she was right, it was just up my street, and it's such fun to meet alternative minded people. I found my lodgings via airbnb.com, a useful accommodation website, and landed with a delightful artistic woman with whom I got along very well. She provided me with space to be, gave me use of her verandah and living room as well as a bedroom for the week. I felt very much at home amongst her books, oils and crystals. She took me to 5 rhythm dancing one night, a joy after several months of none. Her house was within ... read more

Upon arrival we were greeted by another avarian society, much like Broadwater. The unwanted abandoned flock of assorted fowl, have since attracted the long arm of the law, who recently had a cull of more than 50 of these feral fowl. But there still is a good dozen or so renegades that like Ned Kelly have avoided capture and have been on the run causing all sorts of mayhem and general mischief. Reportedly it is alleged ... read more

We made the first stop of the day in Brunswick Heads. This small town reminded us a bit of the outback with its wooden hand painted shop signs and country feel. As we drove a little further we soon came to the long wooden bridge which stretches across the estuary. On this hot day many people were taking advantage of the cool clear waters. Some people snorkelled, some people were swimming and young lads were jumping off the bridge in ever increasingly unsafe ways to impress the girls. We couldn’t resist a dip. The water was so refreshing it made a pleasant change to the hot sea in Queensland. The added bonus was that we didn’t get sand stuck to us when we got out. After our dip in the estuary we wandered across to the ... read more
