At sunset last night a bizarre array of colours filled the evening sky with many ominous black clouds rolling in. The shades of blue, grey and purple promised an end-of-the-world type scenario but fortunately what resulted were simply heavy overnight downpours. The sky was completely greyed over as we woke this morning and the overnight rains did not look like subsiding anytime soon. Conditions were not good for driving to say the least so we decided to see out the weather in Berry for the day and stay another night. The rain eased enough for us to get into town mid-morning and spread our money around at a few coffee shops and a bakery. Canberra would have to wait as we decided to head south along the coast as we set off this morning. It took us almost 90 minutes to navigate our way from Lane Cove River Tourist Park, through the city centre and out toward the Pacific Highway heading south towards Wollongong. I think Rachel did pretty well as navigator considering we weaved through the heart of Sydney and managed to avoid the Toll roads. The route we took also gave us another chance to look out over Sydney Harbour. As we moved towards Wollongong we veered off onto the tourist route which took right along the coast through a spattering of quaint coastal towns that were surrounded by green hillsides.
