Day 5-

For today we booked a horseback ride and a boat tour. After breakfast we went on the horseback ride. I had a really fun time! Our tour was at 11:15 but I guess no one wants to go on a trail ride that early because we were the only people on the ride except for our awesome guide. Her name was Cassidy and she was really nice and talkative. She told us lots of stories about the horses at the stables and her own horses at home. She also taught us about different types of moss and pointed out some dead trees and the reasons they died. That took an hour and we had a lot fun. After saying goodbye to our guide we took a short lunch break and then headed down to the boat dock. When we got there we had to wait a few minutes to board the boat. The boat is 81 years old and is the original boat that was used 10 year after the park opened. We finally boarded the boat and took seats on the very top. A ranger told us all about the changes at Glacier. She told us

about how the Native Americans used to burn the plains so that the soil would be more fertile and more animals would come to eat the new grass. Also when the forests burned the trees would drop their seeds and new trees would grow. The lake is very beautiful and you can see the fish in shallow water. Our ranger also talked about how everything is changing. If we could come back in 100,000,000 years Glacier would look the same. There would be changes but so little that you can’t tell. That is because Glacier National Park is preserved and should always be that way. We ended the day with a fabulous dinner in a famous dinning room, a root beer, and an episode of The Fugitive!
