. Well…after extending our stay at the campsite and our trip to the Tetons once, here we are doing it again… We felt that our Teton experience wouldn’t be complete until we did some hiking… So we got up early enough to make lunch and load up our day packs before taking the short-cut to the park and then on to Jenny Lake to meet the boat, unfortunately… Statistics Starting Destination: Jackson, Wyoming Ending Destination: Jackson, Wyoming Ending Destination GPS: N: 43° 31.220’ W: 110° 50.397’ Elev: 6245’ Miles Driven: 81.3 Miles Hiked: approx. 11 miles Miles Traveled by Boat: approx. 3 Feet Climbed on foot: approx. 1400 feet Cascade Canyon After all our advance... read more

After so many beautiful days we are beginning to take them for granted, and today was no exception! However, it was a little warmer, which was a nice change from the cold… Last night our abode was another camping cabin—we seem to like them for a couple of reasons… You can back the truck up to the door, don’t have to totally pack and unpack the truck to sleep in the back, and you can cook right outside the door - the only downside being there is no bathroom attached!... . After 4 nights in one place it was almost getting to feel like home! But alas, we must move on, new and exciting places are beckoning and we are both feel like we have had an overdose of hot springs, mud pools, geysers and tourists! But, there are a few things we still wanted to see, so… Statistics Starting Destination: West Yellowstone, Montana Ending Destination: Jackson, Wyoming Ending Destination GPS: N: 43° 31.220’ W: 110° 50.397’ Elev: 6245’ Miles Driven: 146.3 Miles Hiked: 5 Cumulative crossings of the Continental Divide: 8 Geysers, at last! I am currently in a hostel in Jackson, Wyoming. I spent last night camping in Grand Teton NP. It was beautiful. I love the National Park System. I know it has its bureaucratic and big corporate management issues, but I look at the area surrounding the parks and know that if that land weren’t set aside, it would suffer the same depletion. Thank you President Wilson. I left this morning intending to drive toward California, but when I was passing through Jackson (a cute little tourist town), I noticed a hostel sign. I stopped in and asked them if they had wi-fi. Yes they did, so here I am. One night with a bed (coed dorm) in Jackson. The hostel is a basement of a hotel. The hotel rooms are $125 nightly, while a bed in ... read more

This was the first time I pulled out without Ed so I took my time making sure I got most of it done correctly. It seemed to go well and before to long I was ready to roll. I drove down to the Virginian RV resort which was on the outskirts of Jackson and Nancy went to check out some things to do. I hooked up quickly and we soon met her for lunch at the organic bakery where we all had yummy stuff. It was to be a town day so we headed off to a kids maze and bungee jump near the Snow King Ski area. The kids had fun (after a while as there was a quite a bit of frustration on one of my kids part) and the weather grew warmer and ... read more

I went to Jackson Hole WY to go snowboarding for a week with some good friends. Jimmy and I went to UofR together, Brian and I played Ultimate Frisbee together and Brian's brother Mark who I make fun of. This was the same group that went to Tahoe last year but the travel was a bit more complex. Jimmy and I live in NJ so we went together and met Mark at the airport (he live in Florida) The next day we picked up Brian who flew in from the Netherlands. In the meantime we got a full day of riding in except for a 2 hour break so I could get stitches put in my chin. I had stopped on the mountain for a break and to wait for Jimmy and Mark. As Mark approached ... read more

Hey everyone, I guess I have some catching up to do. The last time I wrote was about Telluride, I’ve covered a lot of time since then. So, the next stop after Telluride was a little town called Ouray for a day. This is a tiny town nestled in a box canyon but with no ski area, just a really cool public hot spring and an ice festival the weekend we were there. Ice climbing is an interesting sport, the climbers are equipped with crampons and ice axes, and they basically just attack the ice as they climb, with a constant spray of ice chunks, some bowling ball sized head hunters, raining down. But these guys were impressive, the speed climbers got up the ice faster than I can climb a ladder. We also toured the ... read more
