Monday, Jamie and Dale had to leave for home and I had to trailer my newest snow machine the '09 Renegade 83 miles up to Keweenaw Motor Sports to have studs installed in the track. Steve and Jim decided to trailer up there also so we could ride together for the rest of the day while my studs were installed. Steve had been considering trading in his '09 Skidoo Renegade 800 ever since the last engine change for a new Etec 600 at Keweenaw Motorsports. He had been bombarding Jim and I with questions for at least the previous week, struggling mightily to come to a decision. The fuse problem made up his oft changing mind for good. After riding my 600 Etec, he was sold. All that remained was the lengthy decision process of which one to buy. Marty had 2 Renegades, one an '09, the other a 2010. There are some slight differences and a difference in price, although both sleds were brand new and had full warranties. When we arrived at KMS, Steve was wired up for his negotiation with Marty. After many considerations of parts to switch from sled to sled, accessories and the differences between the

sleds, Steve decided on the 2010 Renegade 600 Etec. All that was left was for the shop to get the sled out of the box to build it.

Since there were parts from Steve's old sled to be put on the new one, if Steve rode his old sled, we would have to be back in a couple hours so the parts swap could happen. That's when Dan, the service manager, suggested to Marty that he let us take the new 2011 demo 800 Etec out and ride it for the day. We happily agreed that that was a great and generous idea. Normally, you would take the sled out for a mile or two for a demo ride and here we had it to use until closing time. As I've said in past entries, the guys at Keweenaw Motor Sports are really good. This sled is coming out next fall and we would be one of the first to ride it. We rode up to the Gay Bar and took a couple pictures along Lake Superior and had lunch. All 3 of us got to ride it quite a bit and were extremely impressed with the speed and

smooth power of the new 800. It makes great linear power and rides light as a feather. I think both Steve and I have one of these sleds in our future, like maybe next year! We picked up both of our sleds and trailered back to Land O' Lakes. Steve and Jim rode their sleds from the cabin to the Black Oak to meet me for dinner and Steve pronounced he loved his new machine.
