Border Crossing
Crossing the border between Canada and USA Day 8 - July 8, 2009
Temp: 64.4°F - 18°C
Today started early as we had to catch a bus from Vancouver to Seattle. It was raining (again) when we left but cleared a lil by the time we reached Seattle (ironic as this is supposed to be the 'Rainy City'. We left out suitcases in storage at the train station then headed off on foot to find the Pike Market Place. This place was cool. Lots of bits n bobs but i restrained myself to buying some postcards and stamps. We ten headed off in search of the Space Needle. This was built in 1962 for the world fair that was space themed and has been there ever since. It was a good spot to get a good view of the whole city. As we were only here for one day we also did a 'duck tour'. This involved getting in a duck shaped bus thing that could drive on the road then straight into the water that turned into a boat. We went out and saw Meg Ryans house from 'Sleepless in Seattle' (apparently it went up for sale recently, asking price was $2.4mill - it didn't sell)
and the pipeworks park where heath ledger had the paint ball fight with Julia Styles in '10 things i hate about you'. and we saw the Freemont troll from that movie too. We found out on the tour that Seattle buys the most amount of sunglasses per capita as they lose them (no joke).
One thing we've found very strange is that anyone driving on a road must give way to pedestrians, even if they're not on a crossing. they dont toot or anything, if u cross a main road they will just stop for you. Sooooo wierd!!
Anyway, i loved Seattle and wish i had more time here but we are heading to San Francisco tomorrow morning for a few days so that should be fun.
Hope all is well at home and 'm not boring people too much with all my blogs! (if i am, stop reading!)
Mich xoxo

Couldn't have timed it better if you'd tried!! You're certainly not boring me with your blog! On the contrary! I've set my own up ready to go for next week. SIX days!!! SH*T!!! Can't wait to see you! Very wEIrd ;o) (You're SO getting those Mickey "WEIRD" ears now! lol) ...about the traffic! I'd love to try that, just diving out in the road to see what happens! Although knowing my luck, they wouldn't stop and BOOM! lol
