Downtown Dallas
You can see the (closed) Reunion Tower off to the left. Well, I thought today was going to be a great day for sight-seeing in the greater Dallas area...but I was wrong. Let's start at the beginning.
As is the case most days on this road trip of mine, it was a late start...because Ronn and I were up until the wee hours of the morning chatting, etc. So we got out of the house after one o'clock and headed to Dallas. The first stop was the Sixth Floor Museum. It's actually a whole museum in the Book Depository Building where Lee Harvey Oswald shot John F. Kennedy. The tour was self-paced audio tour. They gave you headphones connected to these digital units we hung around our necks. It told you where to go and then had audio or video pieces to explain each stop. It was quite crowded in the museum. They actually had the shooting site recreated to look the same as when Oswald fired his rifle. There were many things I didn't know about it all, and yes, they even had a section on conspiracies on second shooters, the "pristine bullet", doctored photos, etc. Very interesting and a bit strange to be in the exact spot where one
The Reunion Tower
Closed?! Well, it looks neat. of the most respected presidents and Americans of all time was assassinated. I would show you some....but no cameras allowed! Look it up online!
After the museum, we grabbed something to eat at a Mexican restaurant with good food and lousy service. Then off to the Fountain Square on Ross Avenue. It's a business building that has something like 150 fountains on its grounds. Check out the photos to see more.
Then we headed towards the Reunion Tower. You know, the giant tower with the green glowing ball on top that are in all the photos you see of Dallas? With the revolving restaurant on top? Closed until New Year's! Damn!
So, might as well head to the Dallas World Aquarium. Paid the five bucks for parking, walked up to the door.....closed! What's going on around here?
The next spot I wanted to try was the Science Place, which sounded cool...but I never got to find out because....you guessed it...closed. It's like they knew I was coming or something!
We ended up hitting a couple stores and then coming back. One thing I DO have to comment on is that Dallas/Ft. Worth freeways are TERRIBLE!
Where the shot was fired
Bad photo, but this is where Lee Harvey Oswald fired from to kill JFK. From what Ronn and his uncle told me, you can expect a traffic jam to pop up at any time, 24 hours a day. It was 7:30 PM on Saturday evening and we hit a traffic jam outside of town going away from Dallas. Probably all the people leaving Dallas' major attractions after finding out they were all closed.
Well, tomorrow is the Super Bowl, so hopefully it will be a good day. I still had fun hanging out with Ronn and we laughed at the situation anyway.
"Man, you got something good in store for you, Chris, because you made some deposits in the karma bank today," Ronn said. I certainly hope so.

To finish what I was saying, I especially liked the pictures of the fountain. It looks pretty there. ---Just got your call, and enjoyed talking to you. Hope you have better luck today in seeing the sights of Dallas. (I don't know if you got the first half of this comment, because I never submitted it properly, but I was just saying that I may never get to some of these cities, so it's fun to see your photos).
