Welcome home Chris,
Your Mother and I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of your blogs about your Japan trip. It sounded like the trip of a lifetime, and all of your writings and photos were very interesting. Although I know you are probably sad to have the trip over, we are both glad you made it home safe and sound. Odin and Kura will be happy, too. I hope your wish comes true and that sometime in the near future you will be able to return there on another vacation.
Just wanted to thank you, Chris, for all the effort you went to to keep us updated on what you were doing and seeing on your trip. It was fun to hear about all your adventures, and see all the places you visited. It made me almost feel like I was there, too!
All things considered... Chris, I'm glad you had a great trip! It looks like you got the royal (errr...imperial) treatment : ). I honestly enjoyed reading about your time there, thanks for sharing. It made me think of my time stationed there. I may have spend three years there, but I would venture to say you got a lot more out of that two weeks there than I did in many regards. I always hoped that when the family came from Cali that you would have too. My door is always open.
If you feel like coming out to Virginia, again the door is open. There is plenty to see and do: Philly, DC, Maryland are all a short drive away. Connie and Paul Sr. will be here next weekend.
Take care, God Bless.
Rich
Looks like fun! Just wanted to let you know that it has been hitting 100 degrees here for the last few days and supposedly for the next few as well. So while you are over there in the heat we are having it here too!
moving story indeed. Glad you got a chance to see this Chris. A lot of things can be said as to the pro's and con's of dropping the atomic bombs on Japan. If I can quote General George S. Patton, "War is hell." Let us hope and pray that theses weapons will never be used again in the future. Just a side note here, the 2 bombs dropped on Japan were actually different. One was a hydrogen bomb. The difference between nuclear fusion and fission. One was quite bigger than the other in size. Aptly Named Fat-man and Little-boy.
Yukata, Furisode, and Kimono Good pictures. Btw women in traditional dress here is wearing Yukata, light casual Summer garment, not a Furisode worn on formal celebrations especially coming of age. A standard and formal Kimono would be too hot to wear in Summer. Japanese tourists wear the casual Yukata rented at hotels for fun and discovering cultural roots.
Thank you for the comment and explanation, I appreciate it. It seems too hot to wear anything here, so I guess a heavy formal kimono would make it miserable to be outside. Maybe I should rent a Yukata and see!
Blog Hello son, love the blog, the pictures of Nihon. The Japanese people love their food, technology, etc., and are proud people as they preserve their culture. Look forward to your next post!
Glad to see you are having fun already. And to think, all that fun from just a toilet. Wait until you get out side. Have a great time, and send some pics.
After you arrive in the hot and humid weather you can head to your room for a nice hot bath, heated toilet seat and possibly a warm beverage of some sort. Hmm, I am sensing a theme here.
Have a great time!
