Checked out in Chattanooga headed up towards our next stop for a few days. In route we stopped at The Lost Sea Adventure. This was a fun little break a hike down into their cavern, which has been everything from a bar to a hideout, then you get over to the underground lake. They take you around the lake on little glass bottom boats. Very cool and fun stop. http://thelostsea.com/ Got to Gatlinburg & checked into our "cabin". More of a rented out vacation home but very nice. Way too much house for just us but it was a bargain. 3 floors with 4 bedrooms, game room, big kitchen, outdoor hot tub, indoor jacuzzi Huge porch with nice view. My poor son had never seen a bidet before we hear from the bottom floor hey this ... read more

During our next few days we spent in the area. We took in the many sights to be seen. Along with a side trip to the North Carolina Mts. and a day at Dollywood. We played lots of mini golf as that is our thing. Ripleys has many fun courses in the area and of course you have to play Hillbilly Golf. A second trip to the aquarium before out the door. The Christmas Store which my husband has fond memories with his mother of. The Old Mill Restaurant which my grandfather took me too. Also took the ski lift up to Ober Gatlinburg then a ride back down on the mountain coaster after playing around a bit. We took an opportunity to drive around the mountains taking in the views and checking out the pretty ... read more

Gatlinburg has been one of our favorite vacation destinations for 50 years -- yes 50! My mom and dad started taking us to Gatlinburg in 1955. Gatlinburg was a small village then with the main feature being Ole' Smoky Candy Kitchen where we could stand outside the shop and look through the window while they made fudge and taffy. Then we'd go inside and wait until they started handing out free taffy samples. Although the display of candies was overwhelming, we always selected a caramel apple with nuts to enjoy on our drive home. For many years we have vacationed in hotels and cabins in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, each time needing a larger cabin because our families have grown. We love the cabins in the Smoky Mountains because they are completely furnished, and we don't have ... read more

This was one of those trips that changes relationships! We camped for the first time with each other! The scenery was just amazing! We went horse back riding! And hiked some on the App. trail! That trail that we fully did was called Abrams Falls! It was long and testing! But fun all the same! We went way back in April! This is not were our story begins though! It begins at Fall creek Falls! ... read more

It's a family tradition... one that began before I was even born when my parents honeymooned in the fun little mountain town. Many years have passed, and here I am 23 years old, and the family still continues to make the yearly drive up into the mountains to celebrate each passing anniversary that finds my parents. Gatlinburg is mostly a tourist town, clinging to the smells of hot chocolate, fudge, and the history of panning for gold, and nearby indian reservations, and the bears who wander around nearby. You can shop for mementos of the trip, people watch, or just enjoy all the touristy attractions - it seems as if Ripley's museums own half the city!... read more
