October 30 and 31, 2009 Today was a loooong travel day. We left our wonderful hotel in Destin and started out for Jekyll Island, Georgia. We had reservations there so that was our goal. It turned out that we had bitten off more than we could chew!!! It was quite a distance and we probably left later than we should have. Again, on this ride, the time changed…honestly…Donna and I who have such a tenuous grip on reality on a good day, cannot for a minute keep track of who, what, where, when or how!!! Not much excitement to report on the way. John did start a lecture on another bird that he saw…again pulled right out of his you know what…but our eyes glazed over and he stopped talking! Because it was so late (and ... read more

This morning we are heading out of HH. Had an awesome time while we were here. Got in on Tuesday evening and caught up with some friends we hadn't seen in a while. Wednesday we woke up and got to eat some good southern food (fried chicken and cohnbread) at Cahill's Market. We decided to play some mini golf where we nearly took out some innocent bystanders. Who would have though balls would fly off rocks and travel two holes over?? We hit Wild Wings that evening for 2 for 1 wings, nice. Thursday was Culver's birthday. What better way to spend it then at the Heritage?? haha. Pete cooked a big breakfast at the house then it was game time. We got to the tournament around 2 PM and the first beverage was shortly there ... read more

I opted to start this blog to see how it worked in the anticipation of finally retiring and taking off for full-timing in our RV. I needed a chance to practice and see how family and friends were able to do accessing the blog and following our adventures. This is our first attempt as we are about to embark on a long awaited vacation. We are heading out for 2 weeks in Florida and planned originally to take our Suzuki 400cc motorscooter and a couple of bicycles for transportation. But after trying various ways of hanging the bikes, we realized we couldn’t get them on the back of the RV and also put the motorscooter on. We opted for the easier transport in the motorscooter and left the bikes at home. We left Fredericksburg Thursday and ... read more

We continue up the East Coast. Hunting Island in South Carolina is beautiful. The wild life isn't very wild. The beach is white and the ocean is green. While there we visited Paris Island and watched a graduating U.S. Marine class. Then on to Myrtle Beach at Barefoot Landing. Watched the yachts come in from the Atlantic Ocean due to a storm. Not bored yet.... read more

Saturday, April 27, 2002 We (Brian and Michele) woke up bright and early (4:30 AM) to get on the road south to Vacation. Fripp Island, South Carolina was our destination and it was only 11 hours away! We had packed up the truck the night before to help ease the pain of the early morning start. We only stopped a couple times. During the trip it was cool to check out the “South of the Border” bill boards. We arrived at “Parks Place” condo at around 5:00 PM and unpacked the groceries and clothes from the truck. After we put them away, Brian showed me around the place. We walked down to the ocean and walked around the courtyard that was filled with flowers (and bees). Sunday, April 28, 2002 We (Brian and Michele) got to ... read more
