Day FOUR (Saturday)

Slept in for a little bit.... til 8:30.... A stroll through Central Park, dodging a road race that involved 6,000 runners. WOW. Interesting trying to cross the street for sure. The day was lovely though. We had an hour and a half at the MET, the museum to see if you have to choose one in NY. I suggested kids take in the Temple of Dendor and then pick a section of the museum to explore.

We sat on the steps of the museum to listen to some great acapella singing by 3 street performers. Hot dogs for lunch and another stroll in the park. We had our picture at the Alice in Wonderland statue. We couldn't find Balto on this trip or the carousel. 😞

Took cabs to midtown for our "Lion King" matinee. A true Broadway production. The staging is very impressive. A few of the kids wondered how all the mechanical stuff worked. We waited at the stage door and had our pictures taken with some of the cast. One of the kids ventured backstage and had a personal conversation with the director! Way cool!

Subway to Chinatown, shopping and dinner. I warned students not to make any back room purchases for which Chinatown is famous. Several of the guys bought "rolex" watches and some of the girls found "Chanel" bags on the street however..... We made our way to Little Italy for the requisite cannoli sample, as it was too cold for gelato. Yumm...... Thank goodness we've been burning all these calories with walking. Stomachs full, wallets diminished we headed back to the Youth Hostel to pack for the train ride to DC in the morning.
