Woke very yet again & Becc not so good, had a bite to eat & then took a taxi down to the South Seaport Dock. We were catching a Water taxi for a tour along the Hudson River. This took us up the river & to the Statue of Liberty. the tour was refreshing & entertaining. Got some terrific photos of the Statue, an outstanding 45 minutes on the Hudson. Next stop Ground Zero worksite where 9/11 happened, this is a massive area of construction where they are rebuilding the twin towers. They have not named these buildings yet but they will become another icon of the city. Later that day I purchased a ticket on a helicopter to tkae me for a ride around Manhattan. Breathtaking views of the city, very exciting & it was the wow factor for me. The best experience I have had, what a buzz. I sat next to the pilot & talked with him the whole time about the scenery we were passing, magnificent. Flew over Central Park, Yankee Stadium & flew literally around the Empire State Building on an acute angle.....very scary......thought I was going to fall out the door. The pilot re-assured me
that I would fall out, he was very cheeky. Got safely back on the ground & felt fantastic & exhilirated about doing this by myself, very proud of myself right now. Got back into Broadway & went & had a slice of Pizza at Sparrows which was just across the road from our hotel. It was the biggest slice of pizza I have eaten in my life....very tasty....& a must thing to eat while in NewYork. Went back to the room & got Becc's laptop & took it up to the 46th floor & sat & chilled out for a couple of hours. Tonight I was babysitting Will so Jase & Becc could go out in New York together. Will & I ordered room service which was terrific. Becc had brought cup cakes from a famous cake shop in New York called Magnolia's from the TV series Sex & the City. This Vanilla cup cake was the most fabulous dessert I have ever tasted, could have had eaten another 2....3...4.....waistline is so growing with all this eating going on. Will have to work hard for my trainer Annmarie when I return home to Australia. Had to packmy suitcases to get
ready for our flight to San Fran tomorrow morning, not more packing, I am so over it. Will got to sleep around 9.15pm, then I just got on the internet. Checked my emails, travelblog & facebook messages. was online with Fergie from Dublin, so nice to have friends from different countries.
Have re-scheduled my travel plans....going home next Tuesday. I am not going to Sydney for 3 days to see Sharyn & Mark. I am flying from Sydney to Adelaide on the 10th of August. Will arrive in adelaide around 10.30pm so have booked a room at the Grand in Glenelg to get a good nights rest. Rang Sharyn, she was fine with my decision & thought it was a great idea. Rang my best buddy Beaus & she came to my rescue, she will be picking me up from Glenelg around 10.30am & drive me home to surprise the girls, Mum & Dad. Cannot wait to see the look on their faces...it will be priceless. Really home sick no & need to get back home to be with my girls. Got to bed around 11.00pm....another early morning start again to catch a flight to San Fran.....More great times
ahead I believe.......
Good Bye New York...until we meet again....a must to see this place...awesome!!!!
