Casino Royale Hotel where we stayed right in the heart of everything. Come join us again as Vera and I with her sister Lidwina and our friend Judy set off for the USA taking in Las Vegas, New Orleans, the mighty Mississippi, Memphis and New York where we meet Lidwinas's brother in law Martijn and wife Jeanne who would travel the east coast of Canada with us.
29th. April 2015: Setting off from Perth on Qantas we were ready on time for departure and then time passed when the pilot announced we were waiting for 1 person, and then the person and luggage to match up. 1 hour later we departed making our connection in Sydney tight so that when we did arrive there we were fast tracked through - passengers on the next plane were not that excited to see us. After an uneventful flight we landed in LA to transfer to a Delta plane. This one had certainly seen better days as a few of the TV consoles had worked their way out of the backs of seats. We were ready for take-off when the pilot announced there was a technical problem and he couldn't start the engines because a fuel filter was blocked so another had to come from

A beer at the Outback Steak House. Good food and good beer. somewhere and that could take some time. Half hour later we were airborne on our way to Las Vegas.
30th. April: Up and off to see Las Vegas by walking down the LV Boulevard. Across the road from the Mirage, next to Harrah's, across from Caesers Palace and down the road from the Bellagio and some other BIG hotels (all with their own theme) and with BIG casinos . Of course we donated some money to the casinos. One cannot go to Vegas without having at least one go at the pokies or tables. We booked to see the play "Menopause" for that evening as was cheaper tickets and on at Harrah's.
1st. May: Up and off on the $8 bus pass on top deck and as far as the bus would take us which was almost from one end of the boulevard to the other; past all the wedding chapels, more BIG hotels. We went past the Stratoshere then stopped off at Freemont Street in Downtown Las Vegas to go shopping and to watch people on the Flying Fox. Later we walked through the Venetian Hotel where one would think they are in Venice, not only the

The Las Vegas Eye outside with water, gondolas and the Campanile but also inside where there are piazzas, water, gondolas and the singing Gondoliers. Amazing stuff.
2nd. May: The day of the "Fight of the Century" which almost everyone knew and talked about except us, so due to lots of people and traffic we thought this would be a good day to head out to the Canyon. We went over the Hoover Dam bridge with the Colorado River under us, past Boulder City and stopping at the Castle Rock Bar & Grill ( the Grand Canyon Tourist Center), to the Grand Canyon Cafe, on Route 66 for a short time to the canyon South Rim. Stunning views of gorges and that was only a miniscule part of the canyon.
3rd. May: Caesars Palace has it's Roman theme, statues coming out of the water, flames coming from the center piece of Neptune. The girls went shopping tis afternoon while I caught up on some sleep. They bought me a present to add to my collection - a massive fan - 35 inches long - spreading to nearly 6 feet when open and that certainly did not fit into my case so became hand

The Venetian Hotel luggage for the entire trip.
4th. June: Off to New Orleans by air, that is if there is no delay - well there was a delay and this time a bird in the intake of the engine but the pilot had been an aircraft engineer so had the bird removed by the time maintenance arrived to give us the "all clear" for take off via Dallas and then New Orleans.
