Hello people, it has been a while, but with classes back in session and crazy schedules I find less time for this. I have new videos but have not edited them yet. I got all I need now, except for the time. I promise I will put them soon. Regarding this trip, I am on my way to Fresno, California. It was the first time I went thru I-15 southbound from Montana. I was expecting it to be a bit more mountain-range kind of driving, but was surprisingly more "valley" than the west of Montana's I-90. I guess, now, to I-80 and the in-famous "Donna's Pass". Last time I went thru that pass was about 4 years ago, so I'll see how I feel this time. I am fully loaded, so I have to crawl to ... read more

. After sampling the “Kamping Kabin” we can definitely agree that it is just a glorified “shed,” which for the price is only so-so value. On the plus side you and drive right up to your door, cook outside your “Kabin” and don’t have to totally rearrange all the stuff that is in the truck!… on the down side you have to walk in the cold to the bathrooms… Statistics Starting Destination: Buffalo, Wyoming Ending Destination: Missoula, Montana Ending Destination GPS: Ooops! We left Bozeman yesterday afternoon en route to Missoula. On the way into downtown we saw that there were people eating food in the park. Hoping to acquire free food and that it wasn't a church-sanctioned event, we checked it out. "What's going on here?" "A downtown pride thing, but I bet if you brought a plate over here we'd give you some free ribs." So several free ribs, salads, hamburger, later, we were close to deciding that Missoula was one of the best towns we had ever stumbled upon. We asked the purveyors of the free ribs, what there was to do in Missoula. They told us about several bars. **The ribs by the way weren't that good. The sauce was off, a little to sweet, it tasted like it was made for an institution ... read more

Shay here, from a hotel room in Missoula, MT. We are relaxing in relative luxury for a night before heading up to Glacier tomorrow. We have to drop the dogs off for a stay at a kennel, since they are not allowed in the park. They are not excited about it, as is evidenced by the fact that they are both pouting on the hotel room floor. I think they can smell the bath water coming, kind of like how you can smell a big storm blowing in on the wind. Sorry we haven't been keeping up with the blog. It's been great getting to see family and friends for the past few weeks, but it doesn't give us much time to log in and upload pics and stuff. And then there was the little mishap ... read more

This morning I woke up a 26 year old man, lying on the floor of an outhouse near the Clark Fork River in Tareko, Montana. To some people this may seem like a revolting way to begin a birthday and a low point of life, but I was actually quite thankful for my stinky, but dry little shelter. On the day prior I had climbed up from the St. Joe river in Idaho over the Bitteroot Mountains to an unknown elevation. The sky was darkening and grumbling as I reached the summit, where I met Montana at a gravel road. I decended slowly for fifteen hand-clenching-brakes miles to the valley floor into a dissipating thunderstorm. I waited for it to pass and carried on toward Missoula in the sunshisne, on frontage roads along I-90. Hours down ... read more

"Lord, how the day passes! It's like a life--so quickly when we don't watch it and so slowly if we do."---John Steinbeck August 22, 2005, Monday. Left Glacier early and headed to Missoula, Montana. Needed to do some shopping and make an appointment for the Bothan to get the oil changed, etc. August 23, 2005, Tuesday. Stopped at Freightliner and got our Bothan taken care of . We biked around Missoula, a neat college town with great trails. This is the only town in Montana that voted for Kerry. So we felt at home. August 24, 2005, Wednesday. We biked and biked all around Missoula. Stopped at the bike shop and lots of little shops along the way. We treated ourselves to a grand prime rib dinner. ... read more

We had a somewhat lazy morning and left around 11 am. We drove up to Missoula and did our laundry. Mom looked Sherry up in Arlee, up Hwy 93 and called her to leave a message. We drove up and called again from a gas station. We ended up being only 2 miles from her house. She lives way back in the woods with 40 acres and a creek running through the property. Her house was very cool. Cery rustic and right up my alley. We stayed for a few hours with her and she told the girls the story of how Gma Margaret met Judd, Sherry's dad. She said that Gma was about to have a baby (Gma Dawn) and came into Judd's doctor's office (the old Siren hospital in Wisconsin). She walked through a ... read more
