Evidently I was with Ralf too long last night as I set my watch back 2 hours instead of 1. Thought we had plenty of time so no hurrying this morning...UNTIL I realized my mistake after we got on the road. Left Sheridan at 8:15 AM knowing we had to log about 20 extra miles before the 480 to Missoula in order to get the 1500 completed. Upon checking the GPS I discovered that the mileage had to be completed before 3:15 PM and not 4:15. That would be a 62.5 MPH avg. at 4 but a 71.4 at 3. We made it at 3:06 with an avg of 73.5. BTW...Montana State Trooper cars are black and evidently rather forgiving. We passed one doing 95. Ran into the usual road construction, strong winds and rain..oh joy. ... read more

Ian here. Well its Thursday evening and we have a chance to get caught up with the last two days events. I don't think there would be any doubt that it is me after the poor grammar and spelling mistakes. Lets start with Wednesday morning. We decided to try to start the day a little earlier than Tuesday. So we tried, thats all we did. After an early run at 7 a,m, a casual breakfast at 8.30 a.m. and a hectic packing session that took for ever. We tried to leave the hotel at 10 a.m. My bike had a dead battery. So after boosting my bike off Helli's, I dropped my keys under my fairing. We hit the road at 11 from Hood River towards Walla Walla.. What a difference a day can make. The ... read more

44 days away. A lot has happened since my last post. Some family stuff came up and Seth and I had to postpone our trip. Glad we did, but now the stress of the year has caught up with us and we are ready to get out and enjoy ourselves.... 22 days to just be us and live. My mother decided she wanted to come and I am glad she will be going. She has never been overseas before and I can tell she is a little nervous but I think more excited than nervous......plus, if she doesn't do it now, when will she? I started kind of trying to layout dates and places and right now the itinerary looks like this.... Oct 20th-23rd: Switzerland Oct 24th-26th: Istanbul Oct 27th-Nov 1st: Italy Nov 1st-4th: Croatia Nov ... read more

Well, we have officially had our Europe Tickets for a couple days now and we are starting to get Ideas on where to go and what to do. We bought a backpacking Europe book last night! So far Istanbul looks like something we are going to have to try to do! Everyone we talk to that has been there loves it, the research we have done makes it sound unreal, and the pictures on the internet look amazing! Another idea we have is to go to Dublin for St. Patty's Day. Looking into it on Ryanair from Zurich (where we fly into). Not sure on anything yet as far as destinations or the way we are going to travel but we have three months to figure it out I guess! One thing for sure.....We are soooo ... read more

Geo: 46.8727, -113.996We got to Jim and Stacy's just in time to help Stacy stuff octupus legs. Bright red legs barely wide enough for a hand and as long as your leg. Keith wanted to be a red octupus and red octupus it was--he turned out to be the cutest dang cephalopod mollusc in Missoula--of any color. We had a good visit which included a beautiful walk up the Rattlesnake. I definitely have to go back with the camera because it's really, really nice.We left the next morning for Billings.... read more

Yesterday was such a fun day for us and now we were all rested up for our big drive today. We both just love doing adventurous stuff like that especially since we're getting older and we're not sure how much longer these old bodies will hold up. I guess we figure we better get it done now just in case. After we got our showers, ate breakfast and filled up with gas it was time to head on over to Missoula, Montana. Yep, I said Montana !! We've been from Oregon to Idaho to Washington and now we were headed to Montana. It's always an adventure around here and we're always off in search of something new to discover. We hit the road with happy faces and open eyes. After having the cow run out in ... read more

We spent a lazy morning enjoying fresh trout for breakfast. Then we drove into Missoula to fill prescriptions at Wlagreen's and to eat lunch at, oh boy, the Cracker Barrel. Rich found another scenic drive through the Blackfoot Valley, following the Lewis and Clark trail again. we stopped in a tiny town at a fly shop and Rich bought three of the popular flies of the day. We reached a National Forest campground and set up. It is a secluded place with only a few sites. Every window we looked out was gorgeous. We gathered up fishing gear and set off down the creek that ran right through the campground. We strolled along for a couple of hours and then made our way back. rich didn't catch anything on the new flies, but he wure found ... read more

Congrats to everyone for finding this blog! My plane leaves in about 6 hours and I've just finished packing. As I type this my mother is baking me a farewell pumpkin pie, which will help me survive the next 3 days of planes and hotels before I find myself in Mombasa, Kenya (thank you mom!). Please let everyone you think would be interested know about this blog and I'll try to update it as often as I can. My time for sending out invites is a little crunched, thanks. Now for pie and bed, enjoy the snow everyone in Missoula! Tor... read more
