9-19-10 Spent half the day today trying to find an authorized service center for the air conditioners. The front one quit working entirely, and now the back one has developed a leak...not a good thing when the weather is over 90 degrees with about 85% humidity. Drove around to see if we could find a place that had football on. Ended up at The Dock Bar & Grill. It was right on the water, does, in fact, have a dock, so I could watch the boats while G watched football. It was located on the “back bay” of Biloxi. Then Glenn played cards for a bit in the early evening while I sat on the beach in my lawn-chair with my toes in the sand. 9-20-10 Called Mike at Power Source RV Repair this morning and ... read more

Well day 9 was a blah day as for the riding. I left the Memphis area eager to see Austin and ran straight down the highway. It was about half divided and half local through small towns. The one thing that was a bit peculiar was that all the rest stops have armed security 24x7, and it is advertised on the signs. I did not stop. I arrived in the Gulfport / Biloxi area and saw Austin for the first time since March. I was and am happy. I feel so lucky to have great kids. I parked on a dock and started calling hotels in the area. Found a nice place on the beach for the next several days. So there won't be much about action on the blog untill I head out, most likely ... read more

It was mid-20s when I left home at 8:50 a.m. I had to maneuver around piles of snow and ice when I gassed at Trumann, Ark. The zipper pull thermometer on my jacket read about 38 when I stopped a few minutes ago for an early McLunch in Batesville, Miss. It can only get warmer. ++++++++++++ GULFPORT, Miss. - A big bowl of chili and a piece of pecan pie, washed down with water and coffee. I was worn out from cold and traffic when I dropped my sidestand at the Gulfport Motel 6, so I chose to walk to the nearby Waffle House rather than gear up and ride to dinner. I did about 500 miles today, most of them clenched against the cold despite my heated jacket liner, gloves, handgrips and seat. I was ... read more

2/5/07 The next morning I decided to do laundry. I drove to Gulf Shores to do it. It was amazing as pretty much everbody I ran into was retired. That’s true for all of Florida as well. One guy who was in his 80’s was watching his laundry. We talked for awhile. He is from Minnesota. I told him that is such a beautiful place and asked him rhetorically why would anyone leave there! After getting back to the campsite I rode my bike on a nice trail. It however is only about 6 miles long. They have plans in the works to expand the trail. It seems like trails in the South are much better than what we have back home, but then again I have not looked too hard into finding trails in the ... read more
