Doug and I went to Gilmore Motor Museum for their annual Vintage bike show.

Wow, what a place! We got there early, nice day but with the forecast for rain later. Not many bikes at this point so I got my first taste of the quality and standard of presentation by going onto the Ford building.
Yeah, that's right! A separate building housing just old Fords! And many other buildings dedicated to one make.
I had been told that the museum had many barns. Well, these were barns in the same way as a $5million condo is a house! More on the cars later.
With the showground filling up, we made for the custom bike area to meet up with some of the guys from NGW. There were three members bikes entered,: Greg with the cafe racer "White Trash" renamed "Dispicable" for reasons best known to himself, Jeff with his "Bad Dog" and Ed with a very nice GL1000 that looked almost standard until you noticed the supercharger!
This last bike won a prize in the Custom category. Well done to Ed.
Pictures of these reprobates and their machines are on NGW.
Gilmour Museum Tucker
this car is totally original, with just 55 miles under it's wheels. All the usual stuff; venders of clothes, tools, new parts, used parts - designed to slim down your wallet, and venders of food and drinks - all designed to fatten your body!
Huge numbers of visitors and bikes, although I was told that the numbers were down this year, probably due to the rain forecast. In fact, the weather couldn't have been better, warm and sunny all day. But around the middle of the afternoon we heard that rain was really on it's way and the place started to empty quickly.
Doug and I went to investigate the cars.
I have to tell you that I simply don't have the words to convey the awe I in was over both the exhibits and the way that they were presented! Totally unbelievable. Most of them looked as though they had just driven out of the showroom; a Tucker for instance with just 55 miles on it. That is not a misprint; 55 miles!
I will be putting loads of photos into my Photobucket when I get the chance but here's a couple of tasters.
The incredible displays covered just about every American car manufacturer. Hall after
hall of rare and interesting vehicles. Talking to one of the employees, she told me that almost all of the cars that looked like they could be driven DID run and WERE run. The supercharged Auburn speedster that we were standing beside talking had been taken out the week before by it's owner.
Unlike most museums that leave you having no means to get answers to your questions, each hall had its own knowledgeable person in attendance who was only too happy to help.
All in all, the most amazing day!
And yes, we got the rain on the way back, sure enough.
