Two Old Fogies, Two Old Wings, Eight weeks round the USA!

a trip by John G Evans
From: June 4th 2013
Until: August 1st 2013

This is the story of two guys, well old enough to know better, deciding to do an eight week motorcycling tour of the USA.
Myself, John. 65, an Englishman living in Scotland and my best friend Doug, 68 American through and through who lives In Michigan.

We are, of course, using the latest in high tech motorcycles!

Er.......No, we are actually doing this 7000 mile trip on 1970s Honda Goldwing GL1000s; mine a 1976 and Doug's a cafe racer styled 1979.

Are we mad? Quite probably! But as someone once said "you are never too old to be having a happy childhood!" We'll drink to that!

It was decided to ship my own bike over for this trip. You can read about the hassle we had with that in the blog. A nightmare! Fortunately one that I will never have to repeat. I already had a bike over there that I could have ridden, but it was not MY bike, if you know what I mean. We sold that bike to offset the costs in shipping mine over to an extent.
