We arrived in Maine a week ago. Maine is a beautiful state with woods, streams and ponds around every corner. Also signs on the highway warning you of moose crossings but we never did see one. We checked out every pond hoping we would see one. We did see several deer with their does following.

Bar Harbor is on Mount Desert Island in the central part of Maine on the Atlantic Ocean. It has become very prosperous because of the cruise ships (about 3 a week) that stop in the summer and fall months. The town has lots of shops and great restaurants but still has that small town feeling with very friendly people. We have eaten haddock, red snapper and flounder and tonight we will have a lobster dinner. You cannot come to Maine and not have lobster!

Acadia National Park is so amazing with views of the islands that surround Bar Harbor and the lakes and inlets at every turn. We took a number of walks in the woods and along the ponds.

We have really fallen in love with this area. We would highly recommend it as a destination. We are heading tomorrow to New Hampshire and Vermont for 4 days and then the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. See you down the road! Val and Dale and Toby
