Crystal River
attack of the birds! Venice, Crystal River & Orlando. That's what this trip entailed.
When we signed up for our phone service a year prior, they had a one day special. That special was that if you signed up for service, faithfully paid your bills, then in a year you would get a free plane ticket. We may not always be frugal, but we love free stuff! Who doesn't? With the free ticket you could choose from a number of destinations. We opted for Florida because Jeff's grandparents live there plus we wanted to act like children for a day in Orlando.
After landing in Orlando we hopped in the rental car and drove to visit Jeff's grandma Margaret in Venice. She showed us a great time! We went to the beach, ate Thanksgiving dinner with her neighborhood, took walks along the pier, watched a sunset, saw a dolphin and Jeff even searched for fossilized shark teeth. Venice is known for the abundance of shark teeth and Jeff braved the 62 degree F waters in search of them. *Success!
After a few days in Venice, we ventured north to Crystal River where we stayed with Jeff's grandma Rutherford. While there we went
to a beach that was swarming with birds. They were everywhere! It was out of this world to have so many flying around us! We managed to get out of there without a poop-on-head incident😉 We enjoyed one rainy day indoors, talking & enjoying eachother's company.
Then we headed back to Orlando and decided to go to Universal Studios. Damn those tickets are expensive! However, we had a lot of fun riding the rides and rollercoasters. Our favorite by far though, was Seuss Landing. It was like stepping into a real life Dr. Seuss book. What a whimsical place!
