We left Josh on Monday morning and Jen had already headed off to work. We were off for a week of visiting friends from long ago and in some cases, far away. First stop was Port Orange, outside of Daytona Beach. We were seeing Carol Lockwood, who was the HR Director in Iwakuni, Japan when we were there in 2000. We had fun and excitement working together and have stayed in touch ever since. We stayed at a great campground near her. After setting up camp, we headed to the pool for some relaxing swim and water aerobics and then cleaned up in the shower and felt totally refreshed. Although I was still towing a trailer with my motorscooter on it, Carol came and got us in the afternoon so we didn't have to unload it. ... read more

The Encore RV Park, Royal Coachman in Nokomis, is beautiful and the people seem friendly (but not overly) and nice. We could hardly wait to get the campsite set up and take a dip in the (comfortably heated) pool. On Friday night we went to "sunset" at the South Jetty and had a casual dinner (downstairs) at the nearby Crow's Nest in Venice. The resort had a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning without us but I hied myself over to the craft show in the club house and found some great hand crafted items. Lucky you if you're on our Christmas list and get the basket made out of clothesline (how's that for irony for those of you who know me and my clothesline collection)! Low key on Saturday at the pool with our books, noodles ... read more

My First Journal Entry Well, this is not only my first attempt at a travel blog, but it is my first attempt at any kind of blog, period. As many of my friends and family may know, I have had a Facebook for over two years and not but a handful of times posted anything that could be compared to a blog entry. I hope I will be faithful to this journal but I have learned in my life making vows, is underestimating my flesh. And there are few things my flesh struggles with more than, procrastination. The Departure I'll be flying from Orlando to Amsterdam (just a layover) then finally to London. August 1st is just a few days away and I still don't feel like I am leaving. I have prepared for my trip, ... read more
